Paper Circuit - Physics Experiment

Build a circuit using just some copper tape on a piece of paper. My students were struggling to grasp the idea of a parallel circuit, so I gave them each about a meter long of copper tape, a coin battery (3V), and two LEDs to build a parallel circuit on paper.

Very useful video - thank you so much for posting. Can the LEDs be any length or does it have to be a specific length? I don't know what to order for my school.

You can use any length because you can join them to the circuit using the copper tape.

I helped my young son make a robot birthday card for his mother. The robot’s eyes light up (the LEDs) and instead of copper tape we used conductive paint. It was super clever and an amazing lesson! 🫡

Why don't you need a resistor to regulate the current? Won't it burn up the LED? Doing this for my class!

Long term use will burn the led. But it's better to use a capacitor

This is great! Does it have to be the 2032 battery? Or can we use a different battery?

It doesn't have to be a specific type of batteries. I used a coin battery so it fits nicely in the card.

Does it matter if the adhesive side is making contact with the non-adhesive side? Are both sides conductive when they make contact?

I tried doing that with the conductive tape... you just need to make sure you really press it down hard

Ues, certainly! I just wanted to tape the circuit to the card so that the pupils can keep them afterwards.
