(same. Although you've probably got it handled now 1 year later)

Haha crazy 1 year later and yeah man got tapped with that couple times and I was like nope ! No more and yeah I just control their elbows and make sure they’re not tightening it . And it’s all about being aware what your opponent is doing at the moment

You have fantastic pedagogy. I like how you show the motions of your moves with your limbs without actually doing it. It helps a lot.

One of my favorite chokes too, I've caught alot of ppl off guard w it, but like he says different ppl have different success rates w different versions of this. I've personally found that securing the collar first by weaving your arm under their nearside arm, then sinking in the choke takes a little longer to set up and is easier for them to defend and see coming, so I usually do a slightly different version. Ppl have said it won't work bc they can just hip out, but so far I haven't had anyone escape from it. I get a farside underhook and pull down on their farside shoulder, while driving all my weight down on my forearm across their neck and ppl usually tap within seconds. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a blood or air choke or a combo of both, but the way I do it it's for sure an air choke / trachea crush, it's not a friendly technique but it's been very effective. Heres a video of me hitting it in competition during a tournament in 2010: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3-phaqYgbl8edE Skip to the end at 4:06 to see the submission.

This is literally the first choke I learned from side mount. I think maybe week 3 I learned this and I have had great success with it.

Man I know BJJ is the best. But damn who has the time to learn all this stuff. Just rather stay armed and live my life. Was gonna sign my son up for BJJ. He may get aggravated with all the stuff u have to memorize. Seems never ending
@Ray-wp4ji3 жыл бұрын
It does sound/overwelming somethimes. But when you get started some basic moves just set in your brain and muscle memory takes over. And if you stick with it you will see that even after only a year there are a couple of moves you can do even with your eyes closed, ad some more years to that and that person will become proper dangerous in this art.

@@FromTheHood2TheWoods please get him into it. I grew up bored, got into drugs (using/selling), and if I'd had bjj then a lot of things would be different. Since April 9th 2010 I've been clean, but had to do fed time before getting into training bjj. 95% of fights I saw ended in a standing clinch after 5 punches, many times going to the ground but almost always standing grappling. So when I got out I started judo, bjj, and boxing at different gyms. 99%+ were 1 on 1 fights and the 1% were gangs jumping their own. Anyways, from what I saw I realized grapplings use. The people become family, we all look out for each other. I hope you get your kid training, it's more than just self defense.

@@FromTheHood2TheWoods I grew up in a good area, my story's in the NY Times bestseller Dopesick by Beth Macy. I mention that because if you look up my story you'll see it can happen to any kid growing up.

I use that choke all the time. If they block it, sit back for a modified arm bar.

Lol maybe I got an unnaturally strong neck, but I have not had anyone successfully get this on me. Just tuck in chin and ignore their attempts to roll your head back

An elbow crossface does wonders to open up the neck. Just slide the hand across and game over.
