Calling BS on the jab at Paper Mario 64's battling system by Andre. Using Sushi's AOE in every battle is literally impossible as it takes up way too much flower power and would be depleted literally within 2-3 regular battles. There is no AOE that you can use without depleting your resources after a couple battles. As Arlo said, you DO actually have to try in the old games because you will die without strategy.
@Surgemaster20128 жыл бұрын
Not to mention Sushie's Tidal Wave at most does 6 or 7 damage, the same as Parakarry's Air Raid and Bombette's Power Bomb. Susie's Tidal Wave isn't an instant KO as they stated. It can do 13 damage if you max it out, but the problem is the attack will often go into it's attack sequence before the player's input can even go past 6 or 7 to balance out the OPness of the power. You also don't need it for every situation as they stated. I get around just fine using Parakarry's Air Raid and attacking normally. It's strictly for enemies that come in groups, yeah it's coming later on. But not every single fight. I'd say if it has more than 3 you can use them.

I gave this game a lot of shit in the build up, due to the lack of WiiU games I bought it anyway. I have to say, I was mostly wrong and the game is good in it's own right! I like how it constantly keeps you involved with characters nicely spread out through the levels so its not just battle,battle,battle. The battling is a bit off but its certainly not bad, stocking the right cards is kind of a requirement later in to the game and at times I found it tougher than even TTYD. I have to say while this doesn't reach TTYD's grandeur, it is certainly better than both Sticker Star AND Super Paper Mario. I know people like to defend the latter but it's clearly better in my eyes. It's definitely a game ill go 100%

Just saying. SPM is the best Paper Mario game story wise. I don't think Color Splash beats it simply because of the battling system. I'd rather have a nonexistent battle system over a broken one. IMO TTYD and SPM are tied, then you have Color Splash then you have 64, simply because it is so small and so not-grand. Then after 5000 points later, Sticker Star

It's already been said 100 times before, it's basically just sticker star but with some slightly improved aspects. That doesn't do anything for me because I loved TTYD for it being specifically an rpg, having tons and tons of unique characters, enemies, bosses, etc, chapters with individual fun stories....That's what made me love the first two games. Those elements are all essentially gone now, so I honestly don't care if a few issues from sticker star were fixed. It's still just sticker star at core.
@seanmyster68 жыл бұрын
That's what I've been saying about this game. You can polish a turd all you want, but at the end of the day it's still a turd.
@bro7488 жыл бұрын
There are two sections Color Splash that feel like two chapters. They talked about those two in the video. The other sections of the game feel like disjointed chapters. It has unique characters, but they all look the same. If you want unique character designs, then there are a few characters that have unique designs, but only the characters that are actually important. The bosses could have been new characters, but the Koopalings in this actually feel way more unique than in any of their other appearances. This game brings back some forgotten enemies from previous games, like the Dino Rhinos.
@22neptun8 жыл бұрын
The worlds in CS might feel similar to the older games (even though far less immersive since you spend much less time in each level and there's no characters to get attached to), but the game's still missing an overarching story that tied it all together. "Bowser kidnapps Peach" is the lamest excuse for a story ever, and I liked the PM-games because they were pretty much the only game who escaped that generic story-trend.
@bro7488 жыл бұрын
22neptun There are characters that are in multiple levels. Also, 'Bowser kidnaps Peach' is just as much Color Splash's whole story as it is in 64.
@22neptun8 жыл бұрын
Spooky Pacific Fun The first three games did so much more with that concept, I think it's just wrong to reduce their overall story to just that one sentence. bro It was the first game in the series, so it can get a pass there. TTYD and SPM expanded the story-aspect a lot though. And then we go back to "Bowser kidnaps Peach" after that. And the worst thing is that the Color Splash's plot is even more shallow than the one from the original.

Suprised noone brought up the terribly designed boss battles "Have that specific cards that weakens me? No?" *instant death*
@RadiantBlazeVA8 жыл бұрын
muskatDR The game has many points in where it tells what thing card you have to use. If you didn't know by the time you get to the boss then you didn't pay any attention to the game at all.
@Surgemaster20128 жыл бұрын
But that still doesn't effect the execution of the bosses themselves. Even if the game gives you the hints to the "Thing cards" (an improvement over Stinker Star) the boss fights themselves still rely on using them in order to win. If you never use them you're put under a time limit and will Auto-lose if the correct Thing card isn't used at the right time. It doesn't effect that it takes the fun out of using simple moves for bosses. Yeah you can attack them with normal attack cards, but you always need a "Thing" card to exploit their weakness otherwise you're overpowered. There's not really any skill involved, you either use the Thing to Win or its an instant Auto-Lose. That's terrible design. It's essentially restricting/limiting the player of using their own ways to control or attack in battle for the sake of forcing a mechanic to hand hold the fight for you. Sure you're always prepared for fights, but that doesn't mean solely relying on them to win isn't any less of an issue.
@RadiantBlazeVA8 жыл бұрын
That's not true. Starting at Wendy, Thing Cards start doing significantly less damage to the bosses. Heck, the thing card you use for Wendy and Lemmy do no damage to them whatsoever. So unless you spam thing cards, you do not instantly win a boss fight.
@Surgemaster20128 жыл бұрын
blazefan519 You need the Camera *Thing* so Wendy's Ring doesn't hold you in place so she can't insta KO you.With Lemmy you need the Disco Ball "Thing" so he stops avoiding your Things and the Ice Pick to pop his ball. So yes certain things, depending on which one is needed, are still overall requirements for set boss. Even so, just having to need a Thing just to even stand a chance is not fun, you have to rely on that specific thing otherwise you don't win. What I mean is you need the correct thing specifically designed for the bosses in order to actually get a win on them.
@RadiantBlazeVA8 жыл бұрын
CodeBox42 Oh, I thought your problem was the fact that things insta-kill bosses. I do agree with the fact that needed thing cards to win bosses is a little stupid but it's ultimately harmless since you'll know what thing cards you need to use.

Same with Sticker Star : Paper Mario on handheld?! Nope, something else. Paper Mario in HD? Once again, nope, have a better version of that handheld thingy.

He likes alot of games I hate and dislikes alot of games that I love. However, the reason as to why I'm a fan of his is because he's still honest. He's not that typical person who sugar coats everyhing and always tries to politically correct to not offend overly sensitive people. Hopefully that's not you.

I want to facepalm when I listen to some parts of this. I can't believe the FFX/PS2-era conceits are still being upheld. "So, the battle system is the only part of the game we didn't like? Well, I liked the rest of the game!" What part of "video game" do people not understand? If you remove the actual GAME part of something, it's no longer a part of that medium. At that rate, the entire thing becomes nothing more than a conversation simulator. Stories in games can be great, but videos games exist as games because they are meant to be PLAYED. If I wanted a great story on its own, I don't need to play a game for it. I can simply break out by HItchcock or Kubrick blu-rays and watch one of those. Video games are by nature an interactive medium. Not to mention, there is the obvious logical problem. Even in a RPG where there is a lot of story, what you do 80% of the time is still gameplay. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. NOTHING that is only enjoyable for 20% of the time is ever truly worth sacrificing the amount of time wasted by the other 80%.

I completely agree with this statement. That's what holds 64 together despite the story and why the RPG elements are preferred.

@ZerogunRivale8 жыл бұрын
22neptun Don't mix up "story" and "plot". Story is every narrative element within something. Plot is a constructed narrative from beginning to end with high and low points. Color Splash doesn't have much in the way of plot, which is fine, not everything needs to. It does, however, have a lot of story.

I'm with Josh about the cutout technique. It was so random and I never understood when I was supposed to use it. I forgot it existed half of the time. And also whenever you were required to use it, you had to spam it like 5 times for the cutout technique to actually work. It was a horrible mechanic in my opinion, but overall the game was enjoyable.

+DarkK~ That isn't what I meant--I'm a huge fan of the original PMs, but the battle system was never amazing. It was fine--good even--but even back then, I often avoided battles because they're not always THAT fun.
@DarkkirbyKRPG8 жыл бұрын
***** I disagree. The battle system in the first 2 games is so open that you can tackle every situation at your own measure, specially with TTYD's 99 BPs instead of Paper Mario's 30 BP limit. The amount of different playstyles it offers is so bastly that different sets of speed-runs or playthroughs in general exist, all without doing glitches (Danger Mario, Level 1 Mario, partnerless, etc.). It makes the experience vary depending on what kind of player you are (some players choose to use BP to surpass the 50 HP or FP limit for example, while others make compromises to re-arrange their badges depending on the chapter), and that's why it's truly brilliant. In Sticker Star and Color Splash, you can defeat anyone with any card because they are that overpowered. It amounts to nothing and makes the battle system truly, truly pointless and worthless, even if you add petty rewards like hammer scraps and coins. A single hammer sticker can defeat 3 enemies, and that is freaking ridiculous. That's why the battle system here doesn't even come close to the original Paper Mario's, even if said original battle system was limited to no badges. It lacks depth, it lacks strategy, it lacks a purpose.
@GameXplain8 жыл бұрын
You've simplified CS's battle system to an extreme that doesn't exist--you can't defeat anyone with any card. No flying enemy ever met the business end of my hammer, for instance, and that's just one of many examples. I actually totally agree on badges--those are brilliant. But it's telling to me that the best part of PM's battle system exists largely outside of it. The battles themselves are fine, but still often fall victim to repetition. Like I said though, I LIKE those battles too, more than CS's--I just find that they're just a tad overrated by comparison to the rest of the game. For example, whenever I hear someone speak fondly of TTYD, it's rarely/never the battles they mention first, if at all--unless it's by way of comparison with SS or CS.

The badges *are* the battle system. You want repetition? Play 64 or TTYD without using any badges (where possible). Aside from cosmetic ones like the Attack FX, the Finders, and the Emblems, all of the badges are battle related. Gaining attacks, doing baseline more damage, taking less, spike/poison/zap immunity, HP/FP Drain, and Double Dip are all choices that badges bring to battle. Badges don't exist outside the battle system. They *are* the battle system.

Here's my opinion. I compare video games to a house, and in a house the absolute most important thing is the foundation. It does not matter how much money you put into the rest of the house, how well-made and pretty it is, if the foundation is flawed, the entire house crumbles to the ground. And in my opinion, the gameplay is the foundation of a game. It doesn't matter how well made the rest of the game is, it could have amazing graphics, an awesome story and dialogue, if the gameplay is flawed, the game is flawed to its core. And that's how I feel out Colour Splash, everything else is pretty well put-together. The dialogue is witty, and the scenery is pretty and all that jazz, but it doesn't matter because the foundation of the game is flawed. To give another example, look at Undertale. Honestly, the game looks like shit, the dialogue is really well-made and the music is great so it's not a perfect example, but the aesthetics are pretty bad. It doesn't matter though, because the gameplay is absolutely amazing, and no one cares about the "extra" things like the aesthetics because the foundation of the game is solid, and it holds the rest of the game up. This is just my opinion though, some people may weigh other attributes within a game higher than gameplay, and that's their "foundation" of a game, but for me personally, the gameplay is the most important part.

To put my opinion out there, here is what I have to say about all of the games: PM64 was the original, but in itself was a sort of sequel to smrpg. It had character, it had charm, but if you really look at it the story and characters were kind of flat. It was "Bowser is bad, Mario is hero." Partners were... lacking. Even though they had roles and backstories, I didn't care about any of them. Goombario is a goomba with a hat. Lakilester is a lakitu with a name he doesn't like. NEXT. Battles fell victim to rpg syndrome. At first, you could use strategy to optimize your battle time, but later you get things like mega quake and tidal wave that sweep the entire screen, and encounters end up being 3 of the same thing. At least we had some Peach espionage, that was great. PMTTYD is my favorite, but it had its flaws as with anything. It had a better story per chapter and the partners were given proper introduction so I actually cared when one of them fell in battle. But the overarching story was lackluster apart from Vivian's involvement. Even so, the X-nauts were the coolest space nazis around, very nice to have a villain that's not Bowser. "His Awfulness" had the funny rivalry going on, always one step behind Mario. Tec-XX and Peach had their thing as well. Battles were the best in the series. You may have played the game, but have you ever analyzed it? Just look at the prologue and chapter 1 with a game design textbook in your lap. They teach you about all the mechanics step by step even if you skip Frankly's tutorials. Every battle in the game has a way to optimize it. Some enemies are practically invulnerable without a well-planned badge set (but you can't even face these without a safe special attack backup). People tend to hate the world because it's not the mushroom kingdom, and I can see that. Also, if they tend to not like the backtracking or repetitive (honestly, what rpg isn't?) battle system, that's fine too. You are allowed to dislike things, I'm just telling you why I like it, and I am not saying the newer games are without merit. One last thing: Small Numbers System. If a standard attack only does 1 damage and enemies only have 4 hp, you can really start to strategize how to win each battle. SPM had the best story of the entire series, hands-down. But the gameplay... ugh. No battles, which means it doesn't fit into the rest of the series but it may just be refreshing enough to distinguish it as something unique. Instead of battles, the gameplay centered on platforming. I like a good platformer, but this one didn't click. Everything from jumping to just walking forward felt a bit floaty, a mix between paper mario and classic super mario gameplay. I'm sure it would have been a nice game to run straight through each level, but the levels were designed like an rpg would be, with items to collect and things to do so you would be doing anything but moving straight forward. Plus, nearly any "puzzle" involved flipping into 3d mode and BOOM it has been solved. The 3d meter that ticks down then recharges makes me upset, because if the entire game uses this meter then why make it take so long to use it only a short time? how can I 100% a level if a good fraction is spent just waiting to explore the next 3d crevice for 10 seconds? In conclusion: I really liked a lot of the 2d-3d platforming and I LOVED the story but it has practically no replay value due to the movement not being fun. Oh and Bowser wasn't the villain again so points for that. PMSS was certainly a disappointment to say the least, and I'm sure you all know why. You all know the Thing Conundrum (specific item for each boss), the pointlessness of battles (uses your stickers for no reward other than stickers) and the monotony (every toad was the same). Boring story with Bowser bad guy, Mario hero, Peach worthless (despite having so much character and daring personality in the previous games). The world itself was the classic grass-desert-etc seen in the super mario series, whether that's good or bad is up to you. The battles use stickers, so the entire thing is a giant game of resource management, especially if you want to power up certain stickers from the field. I did not have a fun time personally. PMCS is the newest game and certainly is way better than Sticker Star. Sadly it uses a Large Number System similar to many other rpgs out there. You can only estimate how hard each attack will hit, which brings in a new kind of strategy than seen in TTYD. Not bad, but certainly different. I personally prefer a Small Numbers System, but Color Splash plays just fine if you first accept that it's a different kind of game. I never ran into any deep trouble with running out of paint, but then again I never had too much trouble with dying in TTYD either. Paper Mario games aren't about the difficulty, they're about the charm out of battle and the optimization while in battle. The world uses levels, which I don't find to be a good choice but each level has charm. The thing is each level only lasts a little while so I never got truly invested in any of them except maybe the pirate one. Humor was there but it fell victim to Indie Game Syndrome (for a Nintendo main title, that's not good). Jokes were very topical and internet-based, even directly referencing other games like Mario Kart 8 and SMB3, even Ocarina of Time. Topical humor is sure to bring out a lot of laughs but it puts a huge date stamp on the game. Try to go back a few years and look at some old indie games or a collection of memes from 2008. You can clearly tell when it was from by the old format, just like this game will be "a 2016 game" a few years from now. I don't see myself replaying this game since I am positive I saw all the jokes in one playthrough. On the other hand, TTYD has less laugh-out-loud moments and more mature humor and fridge logic. I have replayed this game a few times and each time I pick up on at least one new thing that I never got before. TTYD's lack of topical humor and modern slang helped it become more timeless. All that being said, Color Splash is sure to make a fine addition to the Paper Mario series independent of how hard TTYD tries to tarnish its shine. (But seriously, is anyone else upset that Color Splash Mario looks angry when he uses a hammer? What happened to my happy Mario?)

The partners are a bit more than that. Yes they were lacking in some areas, but not to the degree you're stating. And Mega Quake cost too much FP. Tidal Wave also has a very hard input and you'd get like 6 or 7 max unless you're just really good and could max it out at 13 damage. You could say the same with the TTYD partners aesthetically. I think judging them aesthetically is a bit unfair considering you could use that excuse for any Paper Mario character. Koops is just a Koopa with a Hoodie and Pants, Yoshi is just a Yoshi and Bobbery is just a Bomb with a sailors attire. I did care about both TTYD and 64 partners to an extent. I also prefer Air Raid to Tidal Wave because of the easier execution. For example Goombario: He's basically a fanboy of Mario, obviously capturing the expy of a fan admiring his role model. But he also acted as a source of GPS and did have so degree of personality from time to time depending on the area you could tattle on. Kooper: He's an adventurer on the urge of becoming an archeologist (Y'know the same thing as Goombella?) he basically joins the adventure to gain a sense of becoming one and achieves his goal by becoming Koloardo's assistant at the end of the game. Bombette: Admittedly she does have a bit of a weak goal. She mainly goes with Mario as a "Thank You" offer. But she does have a bit of tomboyish sass to her. (her interactions with her stalker with a crush) and in one of the letters she gets from the post office she does get recommended a job offer from the Dry Dry Railroad service. Parakarry: While not much is noted about his goal, you still get that he's a clumsy and absent minded mailman who's struggling to keep his job in order. Once he travels with Mario he seems to be doing a lot better at his job than before as noted by the epilogue, considering his travels with Mario helped his postman job during the events of the game. Lady Bow: She's basically an aristocratic Boo with a bit of a sassy/snooty streak. Unlike the rest of the partners, she took extreme measures (capturing the star spirit) in order to make Mario help her with her goal. She also has more interactions with Mario in her introductory chapter than the rest, in terms of her relation with the boos. You also get the feeling of her jerkish streak when Tubba Blubba was the innocent and the Boos were jerks, she decides to stay with Mario because she liked the sense of adventure (obviously noted by her statement "I've never been filled with so much excitement) Out of all partners she kept at least some character outside of Goombario. Plus she had that classic 90's anime female laugh. Watt: Okay there's nothing I can say about Watt character wise, she's admittedly the weakest and doesn't have a goal beyond just helping Mario. She's has a mother, but that's all you really get from her. Sushi: The dynamic of her not knowing Mario's existence is sorta interesting. She basically has a motherly approach (noted by her actually being a mother/grandmother) and her babysitting the Yoshi's. She also has an interest in romantic stories. Lakilester: You get the sense that he has self esteem issues (noted by the fact he's embarrassed of his named and some of the Lakitu's teased him for his name explained by Letter) he also tries to act strong/tough for his girlfriend. It's sorta like Koops in a way minus the shyness and timid nature. Really they have more than people state. Honestly the main thing that lacks about them is their lack of dialogue when traveling, they just don't say as much when they travel with you. It's not that their personality were gone, they just didn't have them in the forefront as often as they should've. I honestly think just them talking more would make up for all of that. That's what TTYD the partners talked for nearly every event. Even if a few of their goals were weak.
@stephenp61168 жыл бұрын
+CodeBox42 I was giving generalizations, not specific examples. And no, I was absolutely not judging partners aesthetically, sorry if it seemed that way. When it comes to available attacks, a proper badge set in TTYD can sweep the floor too (I'm looking at you, mega rush) but in 64 the fact that Mega Smash and Super Smash Charge (again, examples) exist in the first place puts it at less strategy, more getting hyper powerful by the end of the game regardless. I like the partners from 64 too, don't get me wrong, but my love comes from my own imagination and/or fan content. The game itself (PM64) gave you a cute bomb that helps you because you freed her friends from jail. TTYD gave you the best navigator around, torn apart by his love for his dearest Scarlotte who died while he was at sea. The man had a death wish! Koops was a shy koopa who lived in a small town with his controlling (but later supportive) girlfriend and only when Mario came through did he get the courage to expand his view of the world, and gain the strength to breakdance on stage in front of dozens of people! By comparison, Kooper was someone who always dreamed of exploring but never did until Mario got his shell back and only then did he decide to follow his dreams. One last note: 13 damage! Even with 64 having larger enemy health pools that can STILL sweep a battle.
@Surgemaster20128 жыл бұрын
Stephen Parker But things like Mega Quake are optional for the player to use, you can avoid using those types of badges in general to create more situations, even coming down to straight up limiting yourself to make it challenging. And I agree with your analogy comparison of the partners. However 13 damage from Tidal Wave is still a master to reach, it's nearly impossible (it's doable, but extremely hard) the most you get is 6 or 7 before the move breaks into sequence.

+CodeBox42 (in response to both of your new replies) True you can make challenges but I was talking about the underlying design. No badge should be objectively better, it should be up to the player to decide how their game is played. TTYD you can buy jumpman, hammerman, simplifier and unsimplifier from right after chapter 1 (simplifiers right before). But in 64's defense they limit max BP so I can let powerful badges slide. Thank you for spelling out the partner's characters for everyone else, please believe me when I say I don't dislike them. The main problem is how the game presents them, not the characters themselves. The game gives you a short intro and a bit of post-game info and that's it. The best character in the game is Lady Bow, and that's mostly because she teases you for a while before she becomes your partner and even talks throughout the chapter. It's all about having enough time to get to know who they truly are.

CodeBox42 A new game would of course be the best case scenario, but Nintendo doesn't think a 2nd RPG series (even though it was the 1st) is necessary. So they might opt for a safer test with a remake.

I still think the game is terrible at worst, ok at best, mostly regarded as mediocre. There are a few improvements upon Sticker Star, but it's still Sticker Star underneath all of that coat of paint. It can't change what it is, it can't get rid of its problems because it was DESIGNED from the problems Sticker Star had, not from the ground up. All in all, I'm done with Paper Mario until they actually bring a good RPG game back into the series. I won't even bitch about the newest game being shit, as it has been 3 disappointments since 2007, so I'll just pretend TTYD was the last game and the series died forever after that, except for a random crossover with M&L. Also yes, battling is at its worst in Color Splash, and they still ARE POINTLESS, like Josh said.
@Surgemaster20128 жыл бұрын
To an extent. I have to agree, though I do like Super Paper Mario and I wouldn't call the franchise dead, just on a long hiatus. But I do agree coming from someone who's played the first two games religiously.
@DarkkirbyKRPG8 жыл бұрын
CodeBox42 Super was a disappointment in the sense that it was the first Paper Mario that was just ok in my eyes. Great story, great humor, terrible gameplay and terrible gameplay mechanics however. I've never been able to replay Super because I dislike playing it that much, but I do like to watch a let's play from time to time. I'm tired, you know? Tired of waiting for this great series to get out of mediocrity, which is where it has been stuck since 2007, to some extend. I don't even want to bitch about it anymore, because the anger within my heart has turned into sadness. The series will never go back to being fantastic and instead will settle for this generic, paper-aware action-adventure garbage, and honestly? I'd rather just accept it and just pretend Paper Mario stopped existing with TTYD, save for a random comeback with Mario & Luigi. If anyone else enjoys it, good for them, but as for me, I'll just stick to Paper Mario, TTYD and Paper Jam.

the problem with color splash its that there are a lot of stuff that you can say "well, I didn't mind it because of this other thing" or " it wasnt as bad as" I mean, that's not what a game is about, trying to justify why it doesn't suck so much, problems should have been addressed since the beginning, this game has so many small flaws and almost equally stack to be as big as the good stuff this game does. but because the bad stuff are small details it is justifiably. battle system, thing cards, story issues, lack of characterization in toads, boss battles, some annoyingly design levels, roshambo temples, the ship points score level, the do the same level twice levels, having to find all the squad toads every time, the cut out mechanic... I could keep going. all little stuff but for me adds up to make this very little enjoyable for me

How are the battle system, story issues, and boss battles "little" stuff?

Well, without World 3 and backtracking it would be one of my favorites, but.... Just because of those things I really hate it for some reason. I liked the Thing stickers the most. I'm glad they brought them back in Color Splash.

Sticker Star was a good game, but not a good Paper Mario game.

Gamexplain, The Lonely Goomba , and Arlo all talking about Color Splash! This is a miracle for me! Oh and Josh from the BitBlock but I don't really care about him.

The Color Splash haters should have little fuel to their fire if Lonely Goomba can say good things about the game. I'm not going to deny the game's flaws, But This game has it's positives and could be worth playing. While the hate on this game isn't going to quiet down for a while; it might be able to be enjoyed a few years down the road. I'm basically considering this the Sonic Unleashed of the Paper Mario series, and I have analogies for the other games too. Paper Mario 1 -> Sonic 1: It has it's flaws; but fans still like to go back to it every now and again. Thousand Year Door -> Sonic 3 & K: Fans adore it to no end to the point that some consider it overrated. Super Paper Mario -> Sonic Adventure: A mixed opinion game that took an interesting turn on the series formula. Sticker Star -> Sonic 06: The moment the franchise took a horrible turn for the worst. Color Splash -> Sonic Unleashed: Showing signs of slow and steady recovery before even greater times. Paper Mario 6 -> Sonic Colors (Hopefully): A new found greatness that becomes the new treasure of the series. I'm not guaranteeing that this will be the case; but the flow of game quality is not that different.

To be honest, I was surprised that the Lonely Goomba backed up CS, especially since he said in his videos how much he detests that strange Toad-obsession that Nintendo has developed recently.

I would compare it to the Sonic Boom case (everyone hated Shattered Dimensions and Fire and Ice just because they were sequels of the Boom games)

That comparison is actually pretty spot on
