Regarding starfish buttholes, the hole beneath their body is actually their mouth. The way they eat is that they essentially invert their stomach around their prey and slowly digest it as they retract it back in. Their actual butts are located on the opposite end on top of their bodies, but it's much smaller.

Used to work in an aquarium, this is totally correct. It's totally wild to see them eat, especially if they're up against glass when it happens. It looks like a white mass that just spreads out from under the starfish and slowly (and by that I mean, VERY slowly) envelopes the food before, slowly, pulling it all inside again.

One little detail that I always liked is that as you progress through Bowser's Castle, they add more and more instruments into the song (kinda like when you beat a world in Yoshi's Island). It makes getting up to Bowser much more intense.

I still kinda wish they used Bowser Road from Super Mario 64. When I first heard that in Super Mario Galaxy's Bowser stages, I was psyched and it always pumps me up to face Bowser. Though that theme fits more for an obstacle course like in 64 or Galaxy, while Bowser's Castle here is a lengthy dungeon, it would have lost it's feel quickly.

Yeah, I don't why he called her bad, the only thing bad about is how much her Ultra move cost and her Super as well but she's in my top 5. Bow, Parakarry, Bombette, Kooper and Goombario. Love recreating Goku showing his forms to Babidi and Buu against Tubba's heart with a combo of Repel Gels and Stone Caps while Goombario uses Charge until I have drained all my FP on them, just seeing that damage, 'insert Kuzco meme of Pacha here'

I used Bombette a lot and had like no trouble with the game. I didn't really use status effects because I was conditioned by other JRPGs that status effects sucked against bosses. High FP cost wasn't an issue because I had FP recovering items to use when needed, and you can also recover FP using star power.

@@ShallBePurified Yeah, the game is easy enough that you don't have to worry much about strategy or status effects. You can pretty much play however you want. Chugga's point is more that when you start looking for good strategies, and start to looking at the options you have available, especially as the game goes on, Bombette just falls off.

Chugga has a love/but more hate relationship, praise her when he gets an attack buff that helps him beat the enemy in one turn or get a defend buff to defend against a group of ennemies he didn't quite beat in one turn and would have take damage otherwise, and of course the praise that is doubling star points of course, but at this point Merlee is clearly messing with Chugga do to him being mean to her about her missed timing.

One of my favorite things about Bowser's Castle is how the music gets more and more instruments the deeper you go in. You kinda get a preview of that for the lava rooms, but it only becomes really noticeable past the first Bowser Door. I especially love the final mix of the theme where it uses the intro of the overall theme as backup for the main melody.

I find it a little odd that they allow you to use the Star Beam against other enemies, but considering how many of them can use buffs, I love it! You wouldn't think to use it unless it's for the final boss, but it's pretty handy! Also, that last room with the cannons just wears you down. You really feel Bowser's security amps up the higher you go.

Goombario's Log Day 64: Lucky number 64 is what I've always looked up to, and now here we are continuing upward in Bowser's Castle to reach the summit. His defenses have been ramping up in difficulty no doubt, but that won't stop us. Nothing will. Kooper's Log Day 59: I have many questions right now regarding how I'm able to hit B. Bullet Bills that are floating but are technically grounded for me to hit them. But I'd rather not think about it and just go with the flow. Bombette's Log Day 58: Seriously, am I having deja vu right now? Bullet Bill launchers down a long hallway shooting at us preventing us from reaching the next door, I feel like I've seen all this before. Parakarry's Log Day 53: There's still a lot of people captured by Bowser in the dungeons here. We'd better do everything we can to rescue all of them. Bow's Log Day 42: Interesting. Turns out the Star Spirits together can depower normal enemies, not just Bowser with the Star Rod. Fascinating indeed. Watt's Log Day 32: It's so dark and drab in this castle. All I see is grey and black around every corner. It's kind of scary. Captain Sushie's Log Day 26: I sure hope that the water I was swimmin' through wasn't sewage. I've experienced some disgusting water in me days, but sewage water be the worst of the lot. Lakilester's Log Day 15: I'm shocked that this Goomba soldier is just allowing us to buy, sell, check, and claim items from his storage place. He doesn't know it's Mario thankfully, but it seems strange not gonna lie. *walking through Bowser's Castle* Kooper: I cannot wait to get to the top of Bowser's Castle. Bombette: Tell me about it. All these dark, moody colors reminds me too much of Koopa Bros Fortress, aka the worst place on earth. Kooper: You can say that again. I hope we never have to go back there. Bow: This place is just so massive with some of the strangest design choices I've ever seen. Karry: Good thing I never had to deliver mail here, I'd get lost for days. Watt: Well, look on the bright side. We're making progress aren't we? Sushie: You do be correct. The higher we climb, the closer we get to Peach's Castle up top. Lester: Yeah. We've got this in the bag everyone. Goombario: ... Lester: Hey, Goombario. Something on your mind? Goombario: Oh, um. I was just, thinking about stuff. Watt: What stuff? Goombario: Well, I've been thinking about us, and our future more specifically. Kooper: What do you mean by that? Goombario: *turns to them* You guys realize that once we stop Bowser and save the Princess, our lives will never be the same. We won't be just some average folks, or common mailmen, or whatever Bow is. We'll be remembered as heroes of the Mushroom Kingdom. And like, I'm not against being famous, but. Do you think fame will change us and how people see us? Bombette: I'm, not following. Could you go into more detail? Goombario: I'm saying, I won't just be Goombario. I'll be 'Goombario; Legendary Goomba Hero who saved the world by Mario's side' But like, that feels like a lot of pressure being put on me. Cause I'm afraid everyone's going to look at me and expect the absolute best from me and my vast knowledge of the world. At the end of the day, I'm still just a kid. And like Watt's who's still just a baby. I just know that fame can be both rewarding and detrimental to you. I just, want to be 'Goombario', not some extraordinary hero adored by thousands. It's just a lot of pressure honestly. Karry: ... Wow. I, think I see where you're coming from. Before I became a mailman, I was just a normal citizen who just wanted to hang out with my friend Lester. But now that I've got such a high-ranking status, everyone's expecting me to deliver their letters and packages on time and to not screw up. And yeah, it was a lot of pressure for me following in my father's wings to become a mailman. But, because of that, I've been able to interact with some incredible people who think so fondly in me. Every time I fly by with the mail and hand it out, the smile on their faces is priceless. Because at the end of the day, a postman's job is like being a hero; to bring joy to everyone around you, and know that no matter what, your friends and family will be by your side at all times. Bow: That's... really poetic Karry. Karry: I've had a lot of time to think about my position, but just knowing that people still care about me, even when I'm not delivering anything to them, it just brings a smile to my face. And I don't think that's going to change when we save the world. For many people, I'll still always be Parakarry. And you'll always be Goombario, no title will ever change who you really are inside. Sushie: *sheds a tear* I may not be a captain anymore, but even back then, I wanted me crew to treat me like anyone else. A title can only go so far, it's what's inside ya that truly makes you that. Be it a pirate captain, a hero, or just you. Goombario: ... I ... I don't know what to say. But, thank you guys. I'm glad I got to meet you all, and to get the opportunity to make so many memories I'll never forget. *group hug* Kooper: So, what are we waiting for. Childhood gripe time: as a kid, I somehow misread the star spirits statement in the prologue to be that they would make Mario an equal to Bowser so like Mario would get his own power up equal to Bowser or maybe even a second star rod, especially when chapter 8 was called "a star powered showdown." The end result being that you instead get a magical beam that just makes the enemy weaker was a bit of a disappointment for kid me, even if balance wise making Mario "invincible" with a basic plot summon would be broken Anyway, I always found it neat that the guests you see at the intro castle party are from the hub town and chapters 1 and 2, but also Chapter 7 at the very end so after seeing the first two groups you wonder when you're going to finally see the penguins and in the mean time you see a bunch of more "out there" places without formal ties to toad town. My strategies for years in Mario RPGs, partly relating to that I was never big on strategy, was just "balance all the stat up level up" so I always relied on partners and basic power smashes or star powers since I wasn't used to building up Mario's defense and attack strategies with BP. Nowadays I feel like BP heavy builds are just too challenge breaking so I still keep some levels dedicated to FP and HP early on. As a kid I actually didn't go big on parakarry cause A. I generally just went with whoever I just got and B. Bombette and sushie already had big power moves I was encouraged to use so I didn't think to prioritize parakarey's level ups and find out about air raid.

Star Beam doesn't make Mario invincible, and Bowser wishing for it with the Star Rod being basically a ultimate buff that only the StarSpirits can get rid of by being together like the Master Emerald being able to stop the Chaos Emeralds has always been a great nod for me personally. I also find it nice that every partners is viable against the final boss, Goombario with Charge followed by Multibonk combo, Kooper straight up attacking, Bombette's Bomb, Parrakay's Shell Shot, Bow's Fan Smash and Outta Sight, Watt's Mega Charge to buff Mario's Jumps and straight up attacking, Sushie helping Mario defend better, especially on Bowser's Flame Breath Attack with Water Block and attacking with Squirt, and yes even Lakilester with Cloud Nine that makes you survive longer and him straight up attacking.

I continue to be amazed at the kind of stuff Merlee's spell does (or rather, doesn't do) for you. In my own playthrough of chapter 8, she was a mixed bag. She doubled two separate instances of 10 Star Points AND doubled one instance of 12 Star Points... but then also boosted my attack on two separate turns where I was testing out Super Jump Charge.

Hey, Emile, so, I've been playing this on the Switch alongside your playthrough to see what stuff I missed, and I admittedly rushed ahead and beat the game. I admittedly didn't go for Tayce T.'s recipes list(I'm so sorry, please forgive me), but I'm pretty proud of managing to finish the Star Pieces, Badge collection, delivered letters, CHUCK QUIZMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, etc., and I thank you for replaying this game and helping me give it a proper finish of sorts. Oh, I also didn't bother fighting the Master a 3rd time. I uh..I just didn't want to.

The B. Bill Blaster room is where I like to use Mega Quake. For this section, remove Spike Shield temporarily, swap Power Quake for Mega Quake, and Quick Change for All or Nothing. You want Mega Quake to be at max power to OHKO the Blasters, as none of your Partners can deal enough damage to bypass their defense at a low enough cost, and there are too many Blaster fights to Star Storm them all. Of course, make sure you keep Flower Finder equipped so you recover a good chunk of FP between fights, and keep Multibounce and Chill Out on in case you run into a Bill.

One valid use for bombette, defeating dry bones. Granted kooper probably can with fire shell but still. Dry bones are worth a lot of xp but you only get it if you defeat them with something that fully does it and her fp attacks do so easily. From what I remember a group of dry bones is compatible to the amazee dayzee.

Part 2 of Bowser's Castle. The more of this dungeon I played, the more I realized that it might just be the best in the series. The Crystal Palace is great, and the Palace of Darkness from ttyd is sufficently epic and filled with great plot moments, but Bowser's Castle is long, complex, filled with exciting moments and full of puzzles and secrets. While this middle section might be the weakest part, it's still great fun, and it only gets better from here as we head towards the top...

9:48 Chugga, as a kid I always played games in a super conservative, nervous/cautious way with respect to avoiding deaths/game-overs. So when I got TTYD as my first paper mario game at age 10 I got stuck in a similar loop to what you did with this game. I was able to brute force my way to the end with a build that had 105 HP, 30-ish FP and (I think) 27 BP. And it made the major fights in chapter 8 a MASSIVE slog, where I was taking more damage than I received; the final boss especially took several play sessions to beat (mostly bc I'd get frustrated having to watch the cutscenes repeatedly and have to stop after 1-2 tries)

I remember grinding out 100 star points from a single battle against the B. Bill Blasters, just to see if it was possible. As long as the Bills themselves give you star points, the blasters will fire them off infinitely so you can keep taking them out. I think they changed that in TTYD, since the Bills no longer seem to give any points. Unless I was already too high of a level at the time.

This section... The B. Bill Blasters were the bane of my childhood. I was like you as a child, prioritized HP mainly over FP and BP, and focused more on brute strength than defense. The Mega Jump badge was one of my favorite badges to use, thought I was mad OP when I'd attack enemies. But on these enemies in particular, they're up there with Bzzaps! in being the two enemies in this game I hate the most. The cannon's high defense, the ammo's high attack power, I would get destroyed when fighting these guys. These guys were pure frustration, I'm glad they weren't in any other part of the castle.
