@@qwertyuiop.lkjhgfdsa ... you have to draw the sprites too- and animate them... and sometimes edit hit boxes for each frame, different items, worry about UX design especially in pixel art style games- This is coming from someone who has coded and made comics before. Both are hard, but a Game is MUCH more labor intensive due to the added UX design elements, audio, troubleshooting, playtesting, bugs and glitches, animating, and much more.

This is the best ending, the player got guilty on what they have done and that them being in kris is ruining kris life. The selfish thing to do is stay in him until the end esp now that the others know of your presense. Releasing kris from your control even if it forces us to not see what happens as us being severed from this world mighta left us on a cliffhanger, but at least we know that giving kris control of his body was the right thing. More parts would just ruin the story imo.

Gaster assumed we would be very selfish and stay there just to see the ending. its now up to us to piece together what happened after as its left on a cliffhanger. And i think with kris in control of their body it will be a good ending.

For anyone confused as to why this is the final part and not just a cliffhanger : We, the player, finally decided to quit the game and free Kris from our control. From 10:04 to 10:19, you'll see faded text in the background, one notable and most important text is "CONNECTION SEVERED" with Kris clutching their chest. Kris was the only reason we could "play"/read this comic in the first place and finally decided to take the noble route and not finish the "game". Whatever happens next is out of our control now and free for interpretations. The artist of the comic planned this cliffhanger from the start and I think it's an amazing ending, even if the ending keeps you on your toes ^^ Cheers to another great comic dub done!! Really enjoyed the comic dub :DD

Ooooh dang it! Agh! Ending it that way makes me more curious!! But... Is the Creators wish to leave it like that and is a sour and sweet taste. Sour because I don't get to see what happens next. Sweet because as the player... We basically... Ended the game and freed Kris. But trying to think it critically the way it ended is ... Confusing if the comic doesn't prepare us for this end. Like, in my opinion, should be with the final page with Kris showing us the severed connection and then everything fades to black. But that's just me.

With how incredibly intelligent Gaster is, I would not be surprised if he had a Plan B, as well as a plan C, D, E, F, etc, already prepared for in case any of his plans had failed, example, the Player leaving the game. ...sooo...Gaster lost? The connection was permanently severed. The player is no more. Gaster's plan is done for. No player, no way to tame the fountain into a workable breach. It was a stupid plan anyway. By his own admission, the player seeks a HAPPY ENDING. What player would be satisfied with the ending Gaster offers? The player would never stop opposing him. Would never allow him to enjoy his victory. It would reseal the humans if need be. It isn't them that the player connected with. Or worse, I suppose. The player could be a genocide player. They won't stop at just destroying the town. Such a fool. Such a fool. In any case, I'm glad this isn't the canon story. I have a feeling the real thing will be very, very interesting.

Just like an Undertale/Deltarune comic to get extra meta and use its own existence as narrative and as self-righteous antagonist's proof. This has been a truely enjoyable experience, and has genuinely made me cry on several occasions. The moment the story end, a wave of Au's has been created. I'm still sad that we won't see what happens next or ti see the ending but that what makes this great. We the player's, can create our own endings and imagine how it will end but still sad to see it end despite being there when it started and seeing how it ends but I'm glad to see the comic finished and hope to see more other undertale stories soon to come. Maybe someday, someone will come and do the ending but for now the end is just the beginning to many stories to come.

This was so "Meta". I know this ending is weirdly perfect. But I can't help but want to know what happened. I feel like the "princes" would merge with Azriel. But then, do they still get to be their own darkners? No doubt Sans would cover up their own version of "Weirdmageddon". But still. Not to mention, Jevil! I wish we could at least get some kind of Epilogue picture like with Undertale. The town being repaired, Suselle Alphyne & Soriel, Kris smiling sincerely.

Now I know opinions are opinions and Paper Trail can still be enjoyed despite its flaws especially towards the end (starting from when the yellow "I'm Angry Grrrrr" moron showed up), but come on people! A climax is there to be set up and resolved and can make or break a story! One of THE most important rules in writing! Here it's clearly destructive along with a cliffhanger as the story's ending... An unresolved climax followed up by an irritating cliffhanger. And people actually praise that foolish writing decision... incomprehensible Sorry, but imho all the meta commentary and symbolism falls completely flat with such an ending. And it's a big shame too, because Paper Trail did have a good beginning and middle section... but that ending makes me dread the moment Lynx decides to write another DR story. Edit: The last part was just out of pocket from me and I apologize for the hostile tone. The ending is still alright and needless to say, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however the glaring flaws shouldn’t be swept under the rug.

Head theory: war breaks out between humans and monsters human gaster leading the charge also depending on the player's choices of sparing on recruiting any/all the darkeners will effect the outcome of the human/monster conflict I honestly don't know how this could be resolved peacefully and what if gaster offers kris a place at his side among the humans? But at the same time gaster regards kris as nothing more than a vessel? Maybe their will be an opportunity for kris to make a decision to mercy or fight gaster? Aaaaaaa this is gonna be goood😩😩😩

No, Gaster's plans were ruined, not because Fris cant unlock the fountains anymore, cause he is still a creature of light and dark. The reason Gaster's plans got foiled is because without the player, the story literally cannot progress. It's as if you left a chess game right before checkmate. The ending will never happen, cause there is no player to progress to that ending.

I know that the important part is more the number of the Dark Fountains and their connections to Asriel, but still, it's a really cool (if unsubtle) symbolic thing and an awesome nod to Undertale... As well as the whole thing the Knight (I don't want to just call him 'human Gaster', feels weird) said about the details between Undertale and Deltarune's worlds being the same, just shuffled around a bit

He is right in a sense, but I don't think he at looked the whole puzzle he only gathered the information to set free the humans he didn't look into the actions of what the entity could do. The entity could either help the monster/humans or they could be genocidal maniac killing for fun.

@@KYLE1654-v7m I love kinda happy endings so I picture that it gets resolved later with Asriel (he probably knew about the Dark World for a long time before all this tbh), Kris, Susie, Noelle going around town in a panic and having to tell everyone about the legends n stuff so then it all ends in this grand Infinity War type way.. with them winning/teaming against Gaster and the end of the world; and somehow sealing up all the fountains idk Then they let all the humans free after Except.. maybe the two worlds are kinda combined now.. so you got kind of a big crossover going on forever With that being saaaid; also love thinking about what is happening with the Jevil, Sans, and Papyrus scenario.. seems interesting.. my guess is that it would take quite a few people to imprison him again (or get him under control) unless Jevil hurts Papyrus and Sans goes all Megaloviania lol
