MindScanners is a super cool new game that is a little bit like Papers, Please (procedure-driven gameplay and dystopian commentary) mixed with WarioWare. You play as a MindScanner who has to diagnose people's infirmities and then fix them with a bunch of cybernetic protocols. It's fun and thoughtful - check it out!

The personality bar is a health bar. Its separate from the patient's insanity. There are special devices that restore the patients personality but the drawback is that youll spend more time on each patient if you care enough to save their personality.

It took me 3 hours of solid ingame failure before i realized you can use the FIRST device to target specific insanity types OUT OF ORDER, to get the other ones to slide in place in a row, to then smash the others 3 in a time with the dedicated devices. Before that i assumed you could only delete insanities in the far left, in order. Lol. Went from Dark Souls difficulty to Pepe Soccer.

When he kept hitting keep the first time he did the word-find one and then every time afterwards still didn't understand that there was only one word per screen and that you didn't need to have the word be perfectly clear in order to make a decision on it that really sent me. Like how do you get every single aspect of something wrong lmao

@@cptKamina the blue bar on the right of the patient portraits is their personality/health bar. Each insanity removal takes a chunk of it off. If it hits bottom (6 treatments) it destroys them, but if you don't deplete it it regenerates. Thus keeping their personality

This looks like a Papers Please inspired game that I might actually enjoy. I wanted to like PP, but I just found it TOO stressful in an unfun way. I suppose that was kind of the vibe the designer was going for, but it doesn't change the fact that I didn't want to play it.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Thank god the timer pauses on most stuff and you don't have to read all the lore while work hours are thinking. This makes it more like a fun management strategy game rather than a process-through-the-mess-on-your-desk as quickly as possible game.

Apathy and anhedonia, are the lack of ability to derive pleasure, and this can be a symptom of many things: major depressive disorder, PTSD, substance abuse, personality disorders such as those on the schizotypy spectrum, and more. This can hamper their capability to empathize with others, but in no way implies malicious intent. And he's not a menace to society - he saved the mother to begin with, a selfless act. And when he received the gift, he didn't go into a rage, he felt nothing. It's not scary, it's just a bit sad. The dude doesn't want to kill you, he probably just wants to be left alone to focus on his own interests. The serial killer depiction which you seem to have in mind, in reality would more likely be superficially charming and attempt to mask their lack of empathy.
