In this lesson you will learn chronology: the days of the week, months of the year, seasons and some useful common sentences regarding these.

Century - siglo
Today - Awe
Tomorrow - mañan
The day after tomorrow - otromañan
Yesterday - ayera
The day before yesterday - antayera
The next day - e siguiente dia
Last week - siman pasá
Next month - otro luna
When? - ki ora?
Never - nunka
Now - awor
Days of the week - dia di siman
Unlike the English language, days and months are not capitalized in Papiamentu.

Wednesday - djarason
Thursday - djaweps
Friday - djabièrnè
Saturday - djasabra
Sunday - djadumingu
Months -lunanan
January - yanüari
February - febrüari
March - mart
April - aprel
Seasons - temporada di aña
Spring - Lènte
Summer - Zomer
Autumn - herfst
Winter - Wenter
May - mei
June - yüni
July - yüli
August - ougùstùs
September - sèptèmber
October - òktober
November - novèmber
December - desèmber
What did you do yesterday? - Kiko b'a hasi ayera?
Today is saturday. - awe ta djasabra
Tomorrow I'm climbing the Christoffel hill. - mañan mi ta subi Ser'i Kristòffel.
Let's meet again next week - ban topa otro siman
Some time ago - Algun tempu pasá
When is your birthday: - Ki dia bo t hasi aña?
My birthday is 29 feb - mi ta hasi aña dia bintinuebe di febrüari.

As palavras lembram o português, mas eu achei que tem mais palavras derivadas do espanhol do que palavras derivadas do português, de qualquer forma eu consegui compreender bastante frases.

Communiceren mensen op Curaçao niet in het Nederlands?

While Dutch is taught in schools, Papiamentu is the spoken language of the island. The newspapers, radio stations, television stations and a large majority of the people communicate in Papiamentu. However, most people can also communicate in Dutch, English and Spanish. Thanks for your comment!
