My grandmother, sung this song in Yiddish. I didn't understand it at the time. But I later learned to understand it. It's about a Jewish Orphan boy peddling cigarates in order to survive. His father died fighting the Germans, his mother was shot and he and his sister tried to survive, until one of these two orphans died from hunger and cold. If you follow the words in Yiddish, it breaks your heart.. I always cry when I hear this song . It breaks your heart
