Really great video! You were so on the money about identifying the problematic direction of gaming that I was surprised you didn’t mention that the subscription horseman is also going to include the eventual loss of choice of physical ownership of games. And THAT opens the door to even further problems greed can exploit, such as locking digital games behind subscription services and of course, requiring an internet connection to even play. Most importantly, just having the concept of ownership being confusing and possibly abused. Example, I purchased and downloaded GTA Vice City digitally on the PS4 store years ago only then for Rockstar to pull it around the time they were releasing the inferior trilogy version. I had restored my PlayStation 4 around the same time and went to redownload the original and it was gone. I haven’t checked back if it’s available again so I don’t know if it’s available to download again. but if I wasn’t robbed, I was at least were gate kept from my purchase. That’s was a BIG HELL NO and NO THANK YOU from me as I considered the future of gaming and gamers losing control of their purchases. Like, if everyone becomes dependent on digital games and people are not vocal enough about ownership, I could see this getting out of hand. But anyway, great video. Really, I’ve been gaming since 8 years old, still do and pay attention to the industry and it’s direction. It’s nice that as 27 year old gamer now, I’m not the only fundamentalist pessimist. Lol
