Parables of the Hidden Treasure & the Pearl

Watch this guided meditation using Lectio Divina on this Sunday's Gospel about what the Kingdom of Heaven is like.
This video is a meditation on two parables about the Kingdom of God: the Parable of the Hidden Treasure (a.k.a. Parable of the Treasure Buried in the Field) and the Parable of the Pearl of Great Price.
Here are a few questions to ask yourself:
Lectio: Why did they go sell all that they had?
Meditatio: What do we need to give up for God's Kingdom?
Oratio: What does the Lord tell me to let go when I pray about these parables?
Contemplatio: What will I change about my life after encountering Christ in these parables?

I took the merchant from the parable of the pearl to be God.. As a new believer God delivered a message to me through a prophet, that God sees me as a pearl of great value - also that the hurt and lack of value people place in me is for a reason.. This has encouraged me greatly during difficult times throughout the years.. Theres often layers of meaning and revelation throughout each given scripture. Gods message to me obviously applies to all of His people.. knowing that God sees us pearls of great value and that He gave up everything dear to Him to have a relationship with us is perfect motivation to do the same in return.

That is how I understand this parable. God's treasure is people. No man seeks the kingdom! Our human nature is not attracted to what is godly. The man in the parable is Jesus Luke 19:10 - He came to seek and to save the lost. He gave all He had to make our salvation possible. Jesus purchased us. Same with the pearl. The first parable is described very generally as hidden treasure, but in the second, it is described specifically as a pearl. It is true that Christ died for the whole world but it is also true that He died for us individually.

True but you're still not understanding the parable. The treasure is the eternal rewards the believer discovers he will receive after his life in the flesh. The pearl is the same but is speaking of the Christian actively seeking through good works to store up great treasure in Heaven.

I have the same question? If the men is a believer who gives up everything to purchase kingdom of heaven why did he hide it from everyone? Didn’t Jesus told us to go tell the world about me? It doesn’t make sense to me. It would make more sense if Jesus is the men who gave up his life to redeem us from the world so that we who accepted him and repent can become his treasure or a pearl of great value in his kingdom.

The treasure hunter is Jesus, the field is the world see explanation of wheat and tares. The treasure is the church that is in the world. Jesus gave up everything and bought the church with His own blood. The pearl parable speaks of the pearl being the church. The pearl parable speaks of the church’s fellowship with God in suffering. Pearls are produced with constant irritation and the church is being transformed by denying oneself and taking up the cross to follow Him.

The light in the darkness is this grain of earth within this universal body and it is protecting all of life as you have a Galactic cell out there and this Galactic cell we are in right now is the body of Christ, you live the body of Christ within Omega as you have all word/will of creation upon you within each cell is a throne for all word of creation, you have your will/word of creation upon equal me/a/sure, you are a universal body, when this is over you will be shown all your action and consequence upon your Galactic realm and when trust is earnt you will claim your universal body again within this multiverse. Voices in head are not mental, think positive and legion as he is many will leave. Totally wrong. We have nothing to sell, nothing to offer, and salvation is a gift. When we give up even our life for Christ, it is about suffering and service, but we do not earn salvation that way. We are saved by the blood of Christ. Here is the real story: God has purchased the world, from Satan, by the blood of His Son, in order to save His precious church/ people.
