In this video I show you how to make a fairly fancy, 3 part paracord paddle wrap. These can be used as award paddles, home or boat decorations, etc.
The wrap is done onto a 3 foot paddle (90 cm long). For wrapping, paracord 550 is used.
Enjoy the video!

Hi Mark, you’ve come a very long way since the first videos of yours I watched when I first found this channel. This sort of complicated tying and wrapping has been what I’ve been hoping for, for a long time. Thanks for keeping it going, and for growing so much. You’ve managed to keep my interest over the years.

Hi Mark, you are truly a master craftsman! I am 78 yrs young. Came across your video, and decided I needed this weave on my walking stick. Watched your video 15 times, bought some supplies and 20 hrs later, Voila’. My first project. Now on to something smaller.

I wouldn't even try the triaxle weave without the "fid"/lacing needle, and even then it is a challenge.. so pretty and satisfying when you are done though.

Indeed. Hemostats can also work, but take quite a bit longer.

I did it ! Mark thanks a lot for the clear explanation. The lessons I learned are : a. make the star weave a bit longer than you need because you will lose bit at the start and finish. b. if you make the 4 knots in a light color (mine were white) use a light color of tape to secure your work. c. if you think that the wrap for your star weave is loose enough, continue loosening. If you think it is too loose, you are almost there.

I just ran through my basement trying to find something I could start this project on. I have an old pool cue that I retired a long time ago. I've wanted to hang it on the wall but the handle end of it is in real bad shape. Years of use/abuse and it being shipped half way around the world 4 times shows on it. I now know what to do with it and then make it a proper display case for it to hang with the pride I still have in it. Thx again m8 for the inspiration.

Not related to the subject at hand, but I'm considering some of the techniques demonstrated by this guy to wrap a pair of headphones. Not the cord (although that could look neat), but as a way to contain padding added onto a worn out headband.

You demonstrated this weave nicely, very technical. But you "do good teaching"😊. I mfg.my own whips out of paracord and have had difficulty following some of this kind of stuff - in the passed, I'm still not yet completely proficient / get it second nature; But your vines help me very very much! This was key in my subscribing here. ..... Thx for your creativity and your own personal patients in your endeavors. This is a nice change of pace & relaxing hobby if you can get passed any of the hurdles that arise......☺😐😩😕😑😊 no worries it's all about growth, right?😎👍 🐵🐒🙈🙉🙊😎!!!!!

I also use elastic hair ties that I cut to secure ends when wrapping. Makes it easy to keep it tight and in place before I tie down the ends.

Hi Mark, Thanks for this project. I know what I will do the next month(s) :-). Is it possible to add the maximum total length per color in the description? I don't have that much cord available and I order it separately for each larger project. I will add at least 10m per color that you mention, but I'm afraid that if I scroll trough the whole video to add up the number of meters I need, I would forget some. Thanks a lot !

I'm not the guy you're asking but I think the star wrap or the even numbered herringbone plait would look good in my opinion. However it's the starting and finishing of the wrap that is likely to have challenges since in that case you'd not want it to bulge out. There's got to be a way to get the ends bound while being as close to flush as possible. Going around spokes may also have their challenges. And of course you can't just can't roll it to straighten and even-up the weave of the plait, so it's also going to need extra care for consistency. Now I'm curious if Paracord Guild would try to address that as a topic, because that would make an interesting subject to try. (Although I'd switch to leather stripping in that case instead of paracord. Since I've got a feeling it wouldn't show dirt over time as much.)
