True then as it still is. Paradise Lost is its own genre. Freaking awesome yet soul soothing...

When I first heard this,aged 18 on the album, it transcended musical heights for me, especially as a,metal/doom/goth fan whatever, it is,simply stunning from first second to last.

it is a doom metal, bro
@MH_thesimsfreeplay667 Жыл бұрын
@@alcohost é Doom metal, mas querendo ou não eles trouxeram muita influência para o metal gótico. É tipo como se fosse o Black Sabbath, o Black Sabbath criou o heavy metal, mas muitas de suas músicas soam como Doom Metal.

Change the speed to 1.25 to get back to early 1990s live shows. It's truly worth it, trust me!!

Any idea who the woman singing is? Perhaps an old recording of the original female singer dubbed in?

I'm not sure, but I think you are right (even though it sounds live to me): Sarah Marrion is her name

Any guitarists know how this version is played? I've learned other versions but this sounds different.
@RickGrimesS52 жыл бұрын
Sounds higher.
@fullmetalguy83572 жыл бұрын
Album version was B standard, but it's played in D standard here (the tuning they've used since 1992). They've used 7 string guitars tuned to A standard since 2009, but they generally play it similar to this version.
@stevenwilliams40852 жыл бұрын
That is interesting. I play the album version tuned to Eb and discovered not long after this post that if I stay tuned to Eb and move up 2 frets this version sounds pretty much spot on.
@busterthebear6756 Жыл бұрын
the album version is tuned to C standard but live they have almost always played it in D standard. However, the song can be played in Db standard with different fingering than the band used.

Great discussion. I like slower tempo the most, it's fitting so much better.

Well, for me the PL songs are much better with clean vocals. Gothic here is a great example

Maybe, but there are a few songs that will lose their touch, for example “Beneath Broken Earth” or “Frozen Illusion”

Post-growling Holmes sounds like James Hetfield covering Paradise Lost.... and not exactly nailing it.
@yuriyv42392 жыл бұрын
I can hardly imagine James singing this material it is very very different from what he does. Audience will just deny it...
@ignatiusj.reilly2124 Жыл бұрын
Hetfield can't even nail Metalilca songs, so of course he wouldn't be able to do justive to Paradise Lost. Bring back the growls!
