This is the BEST parallel parking tutorial on KZbin. I followed the advices of many people without improving enough. Last night, just the night before my road test, I watched the video. Today, without even practicing, I took my test and did exactly what is recommended here. I did a flawless parking! If you have to do it between cones as I had, imagine that the cones are the corners of the cars, looking to fit them within your left mirror and then your right window, as the video says, and you will succeed!

This video was EXTREMELY helpful!! I didn't practice parallel parking as much as I liked, so I looked for a video that explained it in full detail. I used this video as a guide and today I passed my road test. The instructor said my parking was perfect and l literally only practiced parking about 5 times. I'm from Mississippi, so LUCKY FOR ME I won't have to learn parallel parking for my driving test. That's only if you're living in big city areas like Los Angeles or New York. I'm living in the country, so THANK GOD for that. People are always bragging about how easy parallel parking is, but it's really not.

I own my license since 2007 and in driving school they taught me a different method. But over the years chance had it that I hardly needed to park parallel - I kinda unlearned how to park parallel and it frustrated me, because I know I used to do this without problems. I tried out this video's method and it's amazing how effective and easy it is. I parked into the smallest spaces no problem. If the space is a bit bigger, I use this method, too, but drive a little bit further on in the straight steering wheel step. Thank you so much for making me feel less like an idiot driver :D

This is definitely the best method for new learners ( I taught two friends this technique and they both passed the test successfully). However you may need to make small adjustments first because everyone's seat position, mirror position, and the distance bw your car and the cones are different. Parking in real life is more complex than in a test, but still, this method can help you develop the feeling of "right" angles and "right" distances, so use it. Thanks OP for posting this video.

Thanks for explaining this in a long simple explanation. Im gonna try this on Wednesday when i go driving. Its really hard for me because i live in a place where the only time youll ever have to parallel park is when you drive to one of the surrounding cities and i never have to go there so basically i have regular pull in/back in parking and mostly completely empty roads.

It's true that you can learn quite a bit from our English cousins, even if they do some things "wrong", such as driving on the "wrong" side of the road or calling the hood a "bonnet". :) Great tips here. I'm checking into how to instruct a nephew in these maneuvers. I never reaally paid attention to how I do it enough to instruct someone else. These are great tips.

If it is more than 1.5x the length of your car, the method will still work, but after parking the curb will be too far away (30-70 cm depending on conditions). The longer the parking space, the further away the curb.

@TheNefertari123 From my understanding, 1) When you're going to back into the space, you turn the wheel fully towards the curb and back up, 2) When your rear door is aligned with the rear bumper of the car that is to be infront of you, you can start to turn the wheel away from the curb. the easiest way: 1) approach lot at a speed of 30-40 kph 2) turn the wheel towards the direction of the lot 3) when the car has turned to about 45 degrees, yank the handbrake and hold it there. 4) clutch in before it stalls and shift to neutral 5) turn off the engine, get out, close and lock doors 6) walk away like the car is about to explode and you are the evil person who set the bomb 7) remove sunglasses in slow mo.

Thank you for comment and your opinion! Every driving teacher has his/her own approach to parking, that's why there are plenty of methods to parallel park. The complexity of each method depends on the dimentions of the parking space and the quality of the result (position of the car in the parking place, distance from the curb etc). The described way of parallel parking is to our opinion the easiest one for small parking spaces and allows to park a car on the acceptable distance from the curb.

yes, it is the first test you do after the inspect the car to see if the turn signals, lights, and wipers work. In my state, they give you three tries to park.
