Ward thanks for the blue danube love it, you do a great job researching scripting and acting in your videos. I bet you’re theater group appreciate your skill. (I don’t come bury Caesar, but to praise him) Ward at 25:41 generator polarity is wrong, the”T” slot (nickel screw) of your standard 20-amp socket is the neutral and when the outlet is mounted horizontally is always down)

Well, I'll be damned. You're absolutely right. I did a clockwise rotation in my head instead of counter-clockwise and didn't think it through. Stupid, as I've installed lots of these things and it also makes sense that your big-ol' "T" blade would be neutral and not hot. So I DID have it right at the start of the video. Doh! I'm going to see if I can pin this comment so no one is mislead. Thanks -- you can bet I'll never forget this now!

@@WardCo Well one nice thing as it's an ungrounded system at the gen-set it really didn't matter to the bonding in the house. I do think you make a great KZbin video and look forward to the next. You might consider giving us a link or providing a video of your theater group's play if that's amenable. You'd be great as Caligula. Kidding aside Thanks for stepping out in front of the camera.

Good video I have watched if four times. I do have a question what is the difference in power specs when you parallel 2 honda eu2200i together vs 1 Honda eu2200i and one Honda eu2200i companion? Thanks

So using that parallel plug on two of the same Hondas won't damage the generators? Why does honda make it so you have to have a companion model?
@WardCo2 жыл бұрын
Well, you don't *have* to have the companion model. What the companion model gets you is a convenient 30 amp outlet built into the generator case so you can tap the full output of both. That's it.
@NavaDownSouth2 жыл бұрын
@@WardCo having 1 generator that super light weight and portable , will power my whole RV and A/C . Then I can add the companion and have 30 amp to my transfer switch in the house. So amazing quality for a generator and small compact size portability only like 45 lbs for 1 of them..
@robertp7209 Жыл бұрын
That’s how their inverters stay in sync with each other. They will also share the load equally.

Are there any use for the 30amp for home applications? Since all the outlets are not round like that. Pls enlighten me. Ty
@alanb762 ай бұрын
@@esojanacig5138 if you install a generator input into your house wiring the 30A output on the generator would be used to feed it if two generators were paralleled with the standard parallel cable.

I strongly suspect the paralleling cables connect to circuitry that will bring the generators into phase because there is the possibility that the output could be 180 degrees out of phase which makes for a big flash. I also suspect that there is circuitry to prevent damage, if one genny stops. I may be wrong... in which case, she me where.
@alanb762 ай бұрын
These are inverter generators and they have a smart controller running the inverter. The electronics in the generator looks at the output to see if there is already AC there when it is starting up. If there is, phase up with it. If not, just put out AC. It is s simple system and works great. I like it so you can alternate running between the two generators when you only need one so you can refuel the non running one when it is cool. Then start it up and shut down the other, and power is continuous. Run both only when you need more power than one can put out.

You should change from 110 to 230 V in the USA. Also 3 phase is the way to go.
@WardCo2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, a split-phase 240V unit will be next -- then I can run the whole house through the new "meter plugs" PG&E (our utility) is offering now.
