I broke 5 & 6 back in '00 and same as you Scotty my life was forever changed that day. The problem I'm dealing with is the affect it had on my brain, I totally changed into a different person altogether. New interests, hobbies, friends, food liked, etc. I didn't see it for awhile while my family definitely did I just knew I felt different and "off" Basically my brain got rewired kinda like the old telephone thing pulling wires out and plugging in somewhere entirely different. But same as you it made me appreciate life alot more and thankful I'm alive. You are an inspiration man as you have come so far and continue to push forward and not everyone gets it but I do.

This made me tear up. To see you get the same feeling, the terrified excitement, the nervous anticipation, is the same feeling that we all feel trying new tricks. Whether it be a bunnyhop, a roll-in, or the most death defying, gravity bending new learn that no one has seen before, it's that feeling that got each and everyone one of us started in the action sport of our choosing, and it's what drove us to continue to try to push ourselves, and hopefully the limits of the sport we love. You pushed the boundaries for me growing up watching you ride at X-Games, and you continue to push me today in the face of adversity. The pure joy and elation in your voice, the ceaseless commitment to push yourself, one baby step at a time speaks volumes to both your character and your talent as a rider. So utterly impressive, Scotty. And by how quickly your riding is coming back, I wouldn't be surprised one bit to see you clear that box in no time!

After years of recovery, like you, I can do a fraction of what I could do before athletically and in sports. After this even, I don't look at life the same way, something as simple as a walk makes me so appreciative of life. I sometimes get frustrated and long for those days where I was able to tell me body what to do and it responded at a high level. This video helped me remember that not long ago I was knocking on death's door and to not get frustrated as to be able to do just some of those things I used to be able to do is in itself a blessing. Thank you

It’s crazy how far you’ve come. I started watching about 9 years ago and I was absolutely devastated watching the accident video and the following recovery, it’s been a crazy journey but I’m incredibly happy to see you able to enjoy bikes again. The joy in your voice and demeanour is inspiring.

What an insane inspiration, last year i shattered c5 and it left me completely paralyzed for a while. I was able to make full recovery and am back to doing the things i love like snowboarding. i absolutely can relate to your new outlook on life as this accident did the same to me. I'm much more appreciative of my life and of the fact that I'm alive let alone can move.
