This is a heart breaking song for me. Beautiful and passionate song, but painful. I didn't know the band, nor had I ever heard the song, but my best friend turned girlfriend wrote me a note with these lyrics on a card and gave them to me the day I shipped off to boot camp in 2009. I was smitten. She came to my graduation from basic training and then broke things off a few weeks later when she said it was going to be too hard, us being apart. I really felt for the first time that I was the only exception and it was truly amazing. I love this song still, even tho it's still hurts.

Yes and no....the song brings back the memories and not the person, but the memories are just as important as the person. Every single person that comes into your life will influence you in one way or another, some people more than others. Those who we have romantic attachment towards carry special significance even long after they leave us. I can speak for myself in saying that I dedicate this song to someone special in my past, because she taught me that there is someone out there for me. Even though it ultimately wasn’t her in the end and she’s long gone (I doubt she even remembers me), I haven’t forgotten that lesson she taught me, even now that over a decade has passed and I thank her for that. This song reminds me of my time with her, but more importantly the lesson I learned from her. Even though she wasn’t my only exception, I’ve learned from her that there is an only exception out there for me. I think of what we went through and even though we may have needed to go our separate ways, there’s no reason to believe that what I went through with her can’t happen again. Just think of the last few words: “and I’m on my way to believing”. I believe someday somewhere that I will find that only exception. You can wallow in every failed relationship or you could turn the light on them and use them as the path in rungs of the ladder in finding your true soulmate and that’s why the memories are so important. This song always carries a special place in my heart because of that.

Last yeat I lost a friend that was a big fan of Paramore. She was the best person I've ever know, always smiling and never wished bad things on others, there was no way that we (her friends) would know that she had a severe depression. I remmember like if it was yesterday, she send me a message asking if I wanted to go out with her, but I had work to do, then I said that we should go the next weekend. During the week she killed herself, I couldn't go to the funeral, I've not visited her until now, after her another person I know did the same thing. I always cry listening to this song, because I remember of her and this other person... Usually people say that suicidal people go to "hell" or whatever. But those people suffer so much to the point they prefer taking away their on life, I think, and hope, that God knows what each one of them feel and what lead them to this.

Carbon monoxide poisoning. His note said.. ""Well guys, I guess you knew this was gonna happen. Tell mom and Kristen I love them. No one here gets out alive" We had no clue. If only I had told my mom where he was that night. Anyways I'm sorry. I don't know you. I haven't said this in almost twenty years

This song always makes me cry because when my parents split up my mom left my dad and I stayed with my dad. I chose to because i thought he needed me more. He wasn't perfect and my mom had a valid reason to leave so I don't blame her. I was 17 so I was old enough to understand.
