Paramount's Kings Island JUNE 1997

In 1997, Kings Island celebrated its 25th anniversary. I made at least one visit that year, and here's footage I shot on a Friday in late June with my brand new JVC GR-AXM1U camcorder. You'll notice that some of the video has black bars and/or sepia tone, fade-ins and fade-outs. That's just me experimenting with the camera's various functions. Unfortunately, I accidentally had the sepia tone filter while filming Hanna-Barbera Land -- UGH!! I posted most this footage many years ago, breaking it up into several shorter videos. Here it is all together in one long video. Filmed Friday, June 27, 1997.

I would have been working as a tech service guy that day, working on rides sounds... I see the mystro was broken that day. There was a maintenance room in the middle of that ride we would play cards and relax in.

14:32 Thank goodness you got that line, it's so hard to find an audio clip of "You'll be baaaack!" I've looked for it for ages because it TERRIFIED me as a kid. I have no idea why it did, it just did for whatever reason and I refused to let my parents take me down that way into Hanna-Barbera land, we always had to go on the path on the other side of the building. I miss PKI so dearly, but even under CF it's still my favorite park! Now if I could only find station area footage/pictures of Top Gun, I loved the old banners for Maverick, Ice Man, etc. but can't find footage anywhere on the internet, same with the full mural in the tunnel to the ride where the American Flag is still painted.

Great video! In about 1998 or 99 was when my parents really started taking my siblings and I on a routine basis. So I was about 4 or 5, and these are some of my earliest memories! It's amazing to see this stuff as an adult and really take in the little details this time around! Thank you for posting! Watching footage of Phantom Theater makes me want to see a side by side of it with Boo Blasters. Or even the two variations of Enchanted Voyage!

For whatever reason kings island has pretty low crowd levels ive notice at least on weekdays and with the waterpark being free alot of people go there and then ride later on in the day.
