The US Soccer fanbase and media underestimating CONCACAF opponents is a tale as old as time. When Panama defeated the US in Copa America, many people within the US Soccer media were shocked. However, people forget the US has either lost or struggled quite a bit against Panama whether in Gold Cups or World Cup qualifiers. Regarding the challenge of the USMNT finding a new coach, Panama's victory over the US was an example of how a manager can make or break a team's tournament run. Thomas Christiansen is one of the best national team coaches in CONCACAF and he clearly out-coached Gregg Berhalter in that Copa America match.

When it comes to Ligue 1, I think they should renew the rights with Bein Sports at least for this upcoming season just to make sure the league is on TV in the US. Now for the 25/26 season & beyond, they should look at doing a deal with Warner Bros Discovery if they want to get games on TV mainly because of the fact that they don't have any college football or NFL rights to get in the way of coverage.

I am so happy CBS have the rights to the EFL. I do not want to knock ESPN÷ too much because I do not know the workings of the rights contract but they showed so few games in the Championship and very few L1 and L2 games.

Does anyone know if they will show the EFL on the 'essentials' paramount+ package or if you would have to get the upgraded one?

Hearing Kartik's comments about the colonial dynamics of Canada and US Soccer reminded me of the outrage behind MLS's social media posts regarding Canada's Copa America run. Before our semifinal match against Argentina, Don Garber's tweet claimed enhancing the CanMNT was a primary MLS goal. USMNT fans and social media influencers were outraged over a "rival" leeching off "their league." However, these fans and social media influencers clearly don't watch MLS or know its roster rules. American players are domestic players on both American and Canadian MLS teams while Canadian players are only domestic players on Canadian MLS teams and are foreign players on American MLS teams. Likewise, on the other end, we CanMNT fans were upset that MLS was quick to take credit for the CanMNT's success while actively discriminating against the MLS players on that team and treating them, to quote Jesse Marsch, as second-class citizens.

I'm with you guy's view on Canada getting to the semifinal vs Argentina because the more teams that are strong in North America, the better tournaments will be. I get bored with usmnt or mexico making it to gold cup finals. We need different winners to cause a shock to the system.

"I'm with you guys' view on Canada getting to the semifinal vs Argentina because the more teams that are strong in North America, the better tournaments will be." As a CanMNT fan, I have this sentiment and I was rooting for Panama when they made it to the Quarterfinals this Copa America. However, instead of recognizing how more competitive teams in their confederation will benefit them in the long run, some USMNT fans and some in the US Soccer media would rather waste time rooting against other successful CONCACAF teams out of jealousy.

The Hispanic press also hated on Canada not just the Americans mexico Uruguay and especially Argentina saying Peru and Chile should off themselves for losing to hockey players and all their players are non Canadians ironically uncle sam outside of Mexico is well liked in Latin America but something about Canada pisses them off.

ESPN ratings and properties has been declining for a while. I know several top employees there and one of the reasons is the network has become more political over the past 10 yrs including recently giving a courage award to Prince Harry, that was origanally named after Pat Tillman, an NFL star who enlisted in the military after 9/11 and died in Iraq. They have also giave a courage report to Caitlin Jenner shortly after a vehicle accident that resulted in a death, finally the network has been favorable toward left wing causes. That is fine as sometimes sports and politics mix but many viewers watch sports as an escape and having ESPN/Disneys politics weaved into their entertainment is a turn off to many viewers
