Only in Trinidad an English speaking country would they be singing in Spanish on a French Heritage Site in Lopinot. That area is close to the Count's house. Rich diversity and history.

From time to time during the years I pull up this video and enjoy it immensely. Lopinot was so beautiful in the past years but when I visited last year it was a disaster. How some rehabilitation works are being done. This place is too beautiful to just neglect.

I love the interaction where the guy with the hat in the back was starting to sing and Paul started singing, not realizing what had happened....the the guy in the middle then intervened and asked Paul to 'leh him geh ah verse'....and that verse was such a sweet addition! Yes, the Trinidadian genero “parang” originated desde el genero “joropo” As a Trinidadian, I can listen to Joropo all day long just because I grew up listening to parang en español para navidad cuando yo era joven

It’s not the words of ancient times. It’s the Spanish and English that gets mixed up, that’s why you don’t understand, i go through the same thing. 3/4 of the people don’t speak or understand Spanish so no one knows el garrabato que dicey. Mi Padre fui el que producio a este Groupo

2:27: Playing cuatro in the forefront on the right is Venezuelan, Jose Hernandez. He was my cuatro instructor at the Instituto Venezolano para la Cultura y Cooperacion in POS. Smile on my face, since my most celebrated Christmas was with my great-grand mother. Could not understand a lick of what said but it sounded real good, enough to dance and have fun. I was about 5-6yrs old. Just like right now. It had a sound of happiness to a child's ears. Enjoyable childhood memories. YEAH!!!

I’m from Trinidad my grandpa Leslie Nathaniel he plays parang in a small group with his friends he’s been playing all his life he knew daisy and parang was is life he loved playing the quatro and sometimes when I was a little girl I would play the toktok, right before I left Trinidad he tried showing me how to play the bass box.

Just pulled out me hand made cuatro; it's late but I'm gonna start repairing it for christmas. The joints split 2 days after leaving trinidad on a 2 day visit. Made a trip with a business assc. to erin where I met a cuatro maker who passed 8 months later. he described the last one he made which I have as a tenoir cuatro. this christmas we 'll get some sounds if I can have it repaired in time.

This is great music. Sweet with memories. I hope you fellas post more like this, on a continuos basis, during the Christmas season. It is one of the greatest traditions on earth, and not many Trinis realize this. I would love to see more of the violins and Mandolins, and box bases. Great Show, and hats off to those paranderos.
