So fascinating... And curious. This is not the first and even the second time I've heard from other japanese bands like tricot that "their sound is not propositaly math rock". I'm a very fan of the genre, but I certainly agree that labels are a very complex thing, neither negative or positive. Anyways... Nice band, girls! It's always nice to see girls making music, especially in environments that we're not always welcome. I'm really enjoying your music. And great mini doc! Hugs from Brazil (and please come too)! :)

excellent video (both content and visually)! bummed they're only going south and west this run, but i'm sure i'll catch them eventually! the States is a pain in the ass to tour, especially for foreigners, so it's certainly understandable our scene(s) and bands here in the US could certainly do well in looking East for an education and inspiration; so much good stuff going on over there

yes definitely! we plan on filming a performance with them in Los Angeles so hopefully you'll stop by and watch our coverage on that event as well!

@@CourtesyDrop yes good idea! anything else you're interested in asking them? or better yet - if there was one song you wanted them to breakdown, what would that be?

@@popeyemedia hmmm, i suppose my question would be for the vocalist: with the shift to instrumental music, has she found it more difficult, easier, or the same to express herself with no lyrics or vocals? i found her singing to be very expressive, so i'm curious to know if there was an adjustment period for her, and how she feels about it now.

I like this and wonder how it is Japan has more than its fair share of wonderful groups in a wide range of genre. Is it down to the educational system? From what the ladies here were seeing its not the culture, it seems almost as this this expression centred philosophy is almost the opposite of their cultural norms. is this then rebellion against culture like 70s punk in the UK and US. I would like to see an Otoboke Beaver documentary to compare and contrast two very different bands genesis & development.
@popeyemedia Жыл бұрын
Interesting! We haven't heard of Otoboke Beaver, but we're super interested in interviewing more Japanese bands! From what we've seen on the ground, major cities in Japan end up having tons of small and local venues for artists to practice and break through. We're based here in Los Angeles and those early career opportunities seem to be less and more coveted. But I whole heartedly agree that there seems to be such an incomprehensible amount of GOOD indie bands in Japan
