Great first impression nicely done guys , i am a motor mechanic 38 years and back in 70s all 4 stroke engines had this simple breather system , the breather pipe should not be below the oil sump , this will siphon out the oil , the pipe should extend above the rocker box allowing the oil to run back in to the engine and let the air out but the pipe must be bigger and rocker box outlet to allow the process to work , if the pipe is to small it will just spit out the oil , i hope this will help if you want to mod your oil breather .

I'm seriously interested, but it's definitely new territory for me. I love hearing how reliable the Bailey is and what a breeze it is for refueling on a long cross country (no oil mixing!). The thing I'm still wondering about is how all the 4-strokes have a declared time limit at max throttle due to heat issues. I'm not aware of that being the case for a 2-stroke. Obviously you can manage your throttle, but does this mean it's imperative on long journeys to consider a temp indicator to keep an eye on it and baby it? Just details I want to learn more about.
@PARANOOB3 жыл бұрын
I've been flying one for over 2 years and honestly, its never crossed my mind. I don't have a temp/rpm meter either. Don't know if I've ever had my throttle pinned for 3 minutes, not noticed a problem if I have... When I asked for questions to include in this video, only one person asked that. I just wanted to include all the questions.

@@PARANOOB how would you say it compares with higher power 2-strokes? I always hear that 4-stroke is inherently inferior to 2-stroke on power-to-weight. It's hard to know who's right on this. Is this EOS Quattro engine worth waiting for? Or will one of the others like Tornado 280, or Vittorazi Moster Factory R be superior?
@PARANOOB3 жыл бұрын
Hiya, thanks for watching! Depends what you mean by superior.. I've not flown a two-stroke myself, so the previous video is the best I can do for comparisons. Four strokes do have less power to weight as far as the engine is concerned, but they also burn a lot less fuel, so your take off weight for a given flight time could even be less. My Bailey burns approx 2.6 litres per hour, can fly for 4+ hours on a full tank, needs less maintenance, doesn't crack exhausts or burn pistons, sounds nicer, takes fuel straight from the pump etc etc. It weighs more, and is less powerful, but I only carry it on the ground and can climb 300fpm. I plan to get a Quattro as soon as they're available. 👍

If power to weight is your goal, then a two stroke will win every time. But like everything in paramotoring, it's give and take and compromise.

Its a 4 stroke so there will always be oil vapour in the breather. The fact that its a little milky is also due due the foaming effect of the vapour. On most motorcycle engines the breather is configured in such a way that the oil vapour condenses and most of it drains back into the motor, the balance is redirected back into the motor via the intake and is burnt off. The manufacturers of these small 4 stroke paramotor engines need to rethink the breathers.
@Pilot_Marc4 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for this nice review of the prototype. Regarding the vibrations: not all comes from the engine. It would be interesting to see how it reacts with a three blade prop. On my Moster it makes a significant difference (never expected so much; video will follow but I don‘t know when I will get the time for the video ;-) ) Kind Regards, Marc
@thpxs05544 жыл бұрын
Long stroke 4strokes are inherently less smooth than ‘ over square’ bore/stroke engines, the piston speed is higher as it has to travel further than a shorter stroke engine for any RPM range, meaning the piston has more inertia that has to be reversed every time the piston changes direction. It’s not so easy to damp this out on a single cylinder. A shorter stroke wider bore is smoother and freer revving but a bit less torquey.
@joseferrer87384 жыл бұрын
I couldn't directly find what a Moster goes for in the UK though I got some idea comparing the Maverick frame only vs the base model. If I'm doing the math right the Quattro is a significant price premium. I could replace a half dozen broken exhausts for the price difference. Here's to hoping the price comes down soon after release.
@PARANOOB4 жыл бұрын
4-strokes will always be more expensive than two strokes, there's more to them. You buy half the fuel, no oil, and you won't need to replace any cracked exhausts at all! 👍😉

@PARANOOB4 жыл бұрын
As far as noobness goes, the frame is more important than the engine, and this is purely an engine test. I'd recommend something tough and cheap to repair for a first frame. I have no interest in altitude stuff. It's cold up there. :)

There will all ways be oil coming out of the the breather its just the way the air carries the oil out threw the pipe oil will all ways sit on the baffle and be carried out from there

Id be interested to know why they use such thick oil in this engine 20w50 very unusual and maybe you sould do a test with high octane fuel see how performs then as if they set the engine up on high octane fuel that also could contribute to the high rpm issue
@leolibre194 жыл бұрын
I the high viscosity oil is probably because is an air cooled highly load engine (as all aviation engines). All air cooled engines will always run hotter than liquid cooled engines, is no problem, is the way it is and they are design to withstand that. Because viscosity is inversely proportional to temperature (the higher the temperature, the lower the viscosity), so it's pretty common that air cooled engines use higher viscosity oils to compensate for that. In motorcyle it ia pretty standard 20w50 for air cooled twin cylinder engines (as the twin tends to operate hotter due to the increase airflow on the rear cylinder).
