I investigated this impressive castle ruin, perched on top of 50 feet high cliffs. Whilst there I didn't feel any spirits around me but it turned out that we caught one of our best EVP's ever - on 4 different cameras.

Findlater castle was owned by my 16th great grandfather, James Dunkeld Lord Ogilvy van Collard and my 18th great grandfather Alexander Dunkeld Lord Ogilvy van Deskford en Findlater Ogilive. Also my 19th great grandfather was Sir George Gordon, 2nd Earl of Huntly. I would love to see a paranormal investigation done at Huntly Castle as well. Nicely done!

You find me impressed. To have some of these names in your ancestry is truly remarkable. We have investigated another of the Ogilvy, later Seafield, castles in the past a few times, .Boyne castle near Portsoy. It was one of the Ogilvy Lairds that was most influential in building Portsoy Harbour. One of the Ogilvy Lairds was known to have opposed the union of Parliaments and resigned as an MP out of protest. The last Laird was out with the '45 at the age of 17 or 18 if I remember right. Huntly castle can not officially be investigated as Historic Scotland does not allow it in any of their properties. But I went through with my boys and we picked up one spirit in the cellar next to the dungeon/prison. My best guess is that he was a Convenanter that was imprisoned here. More interesting was a young Lady in the top most tower. We are certain she was part of the Gordon family. If I am not mistaken I stood in front of the grave of Lord Ogilvy of Deskford and Findlater in the old kirkyard in Fordyce. Would that sound right?

Ever beautiful even if it's just ruins they are so beautiful . I dont understand how theres people that go around the world soemding years to dig up history yet them theres places like this all over Scotland just be left amd forgotten and falling into ruin amd going to be erased from history completely soon enough so sad the amount of castles and beautiful other homes and buildings all ending up like this . Come on Scotland take care of your country's history

I had a Hospice patient here in California named Findlater, emigrated from Edinburgh, married and became a US citizen. He'd taken his wife and kids to Scotland several times, but only saw the ancestral castle as a youth. ---It's an impressive ruin, and it's very hard to imagine constructing such an edifice, even considering the location would have looked a lot steadier 500+ years ago!---I'm also wondering in what era would the 'spirits' have lived, as it's always English that is spoken. Wouldn't the original inhabitants have spoken Gallic, and would that have been recognized by the examiners?---I'm so appreciative of this tour, because it's likely I'll never get there myself (I have been to Dunnottar tho'!)

It's one of the baffling things. Does language matter to spirits? Maybe they can adapt to what ever language is understood by the person present. Dunnottar is so impressive, been a while since we've been there.

Absolutely lovely. So amazing how nature is just taking back what she gave up so this place could thrive while it was needed.
