Following the episode of the Golden Calf, Torah relates that when Moshe descended again from Mount Sinai, his face had become radiant. The people were afraid to approach him, and from this point on, Moshe wore a mask. What is the secret of Moshe's mask? What is the secret of the light of his face, and what lessons can we learn for our own lives?
The Torah portion of Ki Tisa (Exodus 30 : 11 - 34 : 35) is read on 'Shabbat Parah', the 'Sabbath of the Red Heifer,' Adar 18, 5783 - March 11, 2023

maseikhah note has been very instructive and insightful. I never understood molten / play-doh type of image had anything to do with the nature of the sin.

Very nice use of metaphor in the opener. I would even agree with you in part regarding the people failing to internalize that it was in fact God that brought them out of Egypt: "Their mistake was seeing him not as an instrument of YHVH, but as a human being who became God-like" Agree in part. Not seeing him as BOTH caused them to throw off the Torah like their garments. Because Is not, "YHVH make his face to shine upon you" a reference to Moses teaching Israel his mitsvot on his behalf? God uses Moses as an illustration of himself not just to the Egyptians but to Israel as well (but with the mask in play, interestingly). I'm also glad you connect this mask to Purim...why are the masks worn? Is it not to remember that God remained hidden during the Purim miracle? The Talmud compares the exile to "night” and the Purim story to “dawn.” "When one rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God he dawns on them like the morning light" and again: "But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall GO OUT leaping like calves from the stall." And on that note, regarding your emphasis on the "fallacy of FORM", I ask: Isn't the expression, "go out in haste" a reference to the Passover?
