There was that feeble attempt with The 3rd Birthday, they did both Aya and Maeda a huge disservice with that (Maeda especially sounded and acted like a science obsessed serial killer rapist), and to think that game itself has strong basis and quite the unique concept and some very off-putting bosses whose designs daunt you.

It’s a bit complicated. Square Enix no longer has the rights to the “Parasite Eve” name so if they were to revive the series it would be under a different name/IP

@@KhairiHamed it is not a matter of changing a series or franchises name, it is about rewriting pivotal characters as something completely different, Aya could have been justified alright (but having her being treated as she was at the end was very disrespectful of the character) and, as I wrote already, Maeda was Maeda in name only, since when a meek well educated scientist becomes a man whose most memorable sentence is "she is at a nubile age already", when referring to a 12 years old girl?

I played this game for the first time last year after years of being interested in it and i had no idea it was an rpg. It was a pleasant surprise as ive never seen a horror themed rpg before. Amazing game btw, loved it.

@@ameladaptivedaydreamer949 Yeah Parasite Eve has a more celestial divine feel to it. Although it's only the first game that was like that. PE2 was straight up Sci-Fi horror similar to Resident Evil even down to the soundtrack & 3rd Birthday is a complete mess, although "Aya" being able to overdrive (functionally a metempsychosis) into other peoples' bodies always seemed like a natural evolution of her abilities. Which is the only positive I could say about the 3rd game.

Try Shadow Hearts 1, Shadow Hearts Covenant & Koudelka for a somewhat similar feel. Especially Koudelka which has a similar chill vibe as Parasite Eve 1.

I feel like this game should've had voice acting i mean, this game in my eyes is CRYING to have it. Like, given how dark and sad the story is, it's a bummer that they didn't do a good quality voice acting unlike the first Resident Evil.
