Filmed in HD by CNZdenek. This introduced (non-native) European Wasp attacks an Australian butterfly in the Tamar Valley, Tasmania. The wasp partly paralyses its prey using its stinger to inject venom, then it chews off the butterfly's wings, one by one. Finally, once all wings are removed, it flies off with the living body to bring to its nest. It lays an egg inside the prey's body and then stuffs it into a mud-nest (possibly with other paralysed, leg-less or wing-less bodies), sealing the opening afterward. Being alive still, the bodies do not rot inside the mud-nest. Eventually, the eggs will hatch inside the bodies and eat the body from the inside out. Once ready and pupated, it breaks out of the mud-nest to go start the life-cycle again.
