When Toto was eight years old I was his drum tutor at Mullumbimby Primary. After a couple of weeks I taught him a basic rock beat, he began playing and immediately fell into a pocket. I let him go and it was grooving to the point I was tapping my foot. At thirteen his dad used to bring him, Patrick and Louie to a drum circle I facilitated. All three were really good rhythmically and when I saw their first band there was no doubt they had that something special. Although they could really rock, so glad they stayed in their groove pocket. Congratulations lads, well done. James.

I would say Level 42 from the 80's - clone including vocals, bass style and Nile Rodgers influenced funk guitar. Level 42 were actually influenced by Earth Wind & Fire... and the great Maurice White and to some extent David Foster. The vibe is clear.
