Admittedly I was aiming for style as well as fashion since this mask is going to be part of a costume, but functionality is also VERY important because I don't want to buy something that just looks good. If nothing else I spend a lot of time working with spraypaint and other things that probably wouldn't be all that great getting into my lungs. Knowing this mask is functional, affordable, and fashionable is super appealing to me. I was looking into secondhand msa millenniums online but this is like...exactly what I liked about the millenium but it won't take a thousand years to get my hands on one.

Couple questions.... 1. Do the 100 and 101 masks take 40mm canisters? 2. If I want to test out a 40mm canister one time, and then put it in somwthing like a ziploc bag, will it still be just as good months from now? Id like to test mine out, but dont want to ruin it.

I have the Parcil Safety NB-100 Full Face Tactical Respirator, and a Parcil rep said he doesn't recommend it for CBRN because the NB- 100 is silicone and recommends a butyl rubber like the SGE 400/3 BB. Are those masks butyl rubber? What are your thoughts??

If im not mistaken its due to the corrosion factor. My plan is to only use ours for egress. (being enlisted) ill get issued a mil one. But us getting out of(oh idk... A caustic train wreck area) that is the goal

Have the filters been opened? Or are they still sealed in plastic? Regarding the mask itself, check the status of the rubber; is it cracking or brittle? If no, move on to checking the glass/plastic; is it hazy/scratched/or scuffed? Has it changed color or does it appear smokey? If not, it’s probably fine!

Also check o rings and anything rubber for drying/dryrot/cracking. If you don it without filters, get a proper seal and try to breathe you should no be able to get air. If you're willing to open and test the filter should SHOULD be able to with the filter. Don it with filter and cover the filter hole, it should suction in and stop air. Then let off the filter and breathe... Its not confortable, but neither are choking agents

How is the condensation build up? Cause with my 3m 7500 series (dust filter attachment) the moisture builds up quickly and feels disgusting. The best possible environment for bacteria to thrive.

Christ man! All i wanted to know was this! I have a PD-101 version and i dont like the 2 side filters, i think they do a crap job! And i was thinking about getting a m40 filter as its pretty much got me, (a chemist) covered! And im looking through the instruction manual and it says nothing about if i should add caps to seal off where the side filters are, or just leave em alone? This is how i know its made in China, everytime I get equipment from China the instruction manuals are the same INCOMPLETE! with a load of syntax errors! Anyone have a clue about what i just jotted down? If not im gonna break down and get a MIRA mask! Yeah it will break me but from all the reviews fellow chemists have said and military ! Maybe thats the way to go. I just dont like that you pay over 400 bucks and they don't give you a frigging filter! Wow!! Take care

Mira safety is a good one they have a glasses thing so you can wear them with the masks yes they are a bit more expensive but they are real gas masks

Get a 3m 7800 or 6800 mask, they can be fitted with spectacle inserts. A 3m multigas p100 combination filters, or even just a p100 filter will cover nearly everything you'd face as a civilian.
