Had my first look and go on a friends DS35, so impressive. The only downside would be just two zoom options. Hopefully with a firmware update pard will add more to the settings. Great video
@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
Yep not having an incremental zoom is a slight disadvantage, but the DS35-70's 5.6x/11.2x and DS35-50's 4x/8x at least gives some options. My own will hopefully be here today and I'm really looking forward to using it ASAP, planning to zero it @50m on my .22" FAC M3 Sniper (for rabbit control). Cheers. Russ

Ps. The PiP effectively gives you three some options, 5.6x/11.2x and 11.2x/22.4x. R

Love the video and im now considering buying the pard ds35. But i have one question. What is the lowest grain pellet weight for the ballistic calculator to work with.
@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
(Sorry I missed this till now) hmm I think it goes quite low, certainly low enough to use any pellet commonly available. Cheers. Russ

I’m just considering buying a night vision scope for rats and rabbits so, binge watching anything I can find - your channel has given me lots of useful information, thanks for that (new subscriber today). So far, the DS35 is looking like a real contender - I’m after something that will fit to an air rifle with standard mounts rather than picatinney adaptors as on the HIKMICRO Cheetah. Question: your LRF was indicating some pretty close ranges at times (like 12m) but, you were still aiming dead on. I think you said that you’d zero’d at 30m so, why no hold over necessary? You mentioned a ‘ballistic calculator’ is that some magic within the Pard’s software that works the reticle position for you?
@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and subscribing. 🙏 Ah that's easy, I was back using the excellent Krait again last night on this same waste site, and with it (being .177" sub-12, 773FPS) and zeroed @30m with 8.64gr H&N FTTs this time) -the POI is within 8mm of the point of aim from 15m to 34m! So there's no need to aim off significantly within those ranges. The closer I aim within 15m the more significant the adjustment, especially as the Krait's a bullpup, so naturally has a significant height offset bore-to-LOS. Checkout a typical trajectory chart from Hawke's Chairgun Pro software to see this for yourself. The DS35 does have a ballistic calculator, allowing for precise holdover aimpoint adjustment at an range, but no need to use that so much, when targeting between 30m-15m. Hope this helps? Cheers. Russ

Ps. The DS35-50 is approx' double the FOV of the -70, and the Alpex/Cheetah are roughly double the FOV again. Of course a wider FOV is good for shorter range ratting, whereas you might want a narrower FOV and higher mag' for rabbits out to 30m and more. 🤷🏻♂️ Cheers. Russ

@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
My pleasure / happy to help. I believe it does (as well as an inclinometer), will check next time I get the rifle out of the safe. I always switch the accelerometer display to 'off' so that stuff doesn't fill-up the display, hence not being 100% sure. Cheers. Russ

During the day it's impossible to measure the exact distance because the flash can't be seen anywhere
@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
You can actually, the easist way is to align the LRF aiming box [ ] with the LRF flash at night, then learn (with practice) how that moves relative to the changing distances. You can also coordinate the box and LRF splash by daylight. The method includes putting an inverted 'L-shaped' stake in the ground at your preferred/known range, then carefully following a simple procedure with your rifle rested in a stable position. I don't have time to explain the method here, but described it in a video a few years ago for the 008-LRF, which has a vertical LRF splash. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ

@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
@@grantcarty5301 I've gone with the DS35-70RF initially, and last night zeroed it on my .22" FAC FX M3 Sniper @25m (A for 11.7ft/lbs and B for 30ft/lbs. Today/ASAP I'll extend that zero to 50m for profile B, then plan to copy that to profile C for slugs, at correspondingly higher power (hopefully for imminent bunny harvesting). I hope to review the DS35-50RF ASAP, then might well sell my remaining 008S-LRF and buy one of those, for my .177" FAC Maverick Compact. Keep an eye on my channel for news of that review. Cheers. Nice shooting Russ, problem with this type of ratting is they are mostly on the move very difficult to get clear head shots all the time. Any rat hit will expire, if not straight away then likely soon after. Maybe some nice baited areas dotted around to hold them for head shots 🤔 they look as if they've been shot a few times so are a bit jumpy. Great video guys 😎👍

@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
Hi Robert and welcome to the world of NV, top turret clockwise to zoom in-out-in... anti-clockwise to clear the display. Obviously objective throw lever for main focus, and the rear eyebell unscrews up to 40mm to focus the reticle/display. Daylight & NV focus differently, so you'll need to adjust slightly when changing to NV mode, and if you use 940nm IR (onboard IR is 850nm). Enjoy your scope, I just received mine this morning, so will mount and zero it ASAP. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ

Hi Mick, I prefer the DS35 over both my old 008S-LRF and the Alpex A50T. They all have pros and cons, but the DS35 is lightweight and feature-packed. The Alpex has better battery life and great wide FOV at low mag, but the DS35-70RF is the one for me. 👌 The DS35-50RF might prove better for 12ft/lb airgun use, I'm looking forward to testing it ASAP. Cheers. Russ

Question russ...the ir as 3 setting of brightness.....mine is on zero..seems better then 1..2...3......wat am I doing wrong...cheers
@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, in daylight (colour mode) you can close the lens cap but open the aperture and use the 'focus free' facility. In less bright conditions open the lens cap, it clicks-back against the right side. Once it's too dark/gloomy to see clearly go into NV (B&W) mode, then pop the IR lamp onto #1. Now first concentrate the beam by extending the collar (you'll see a grid pattern of white dots), then withdraw the IR collar until the IR light is more diffuse, and fills the field of view. When you concentrate the beam, if it's off-centre rotate the collar to unclamp the IR lens and allow you to redirect it and centralise the beam, before rotating it to fix that position. I didn't need IR #2 or #3 yet while testing but I'm keen to stretch the legs a bit now I've bought my own. Hope this helps? Cheers. Russ

You shoot a rat and it runs away and it's added to your tally (me no understand) why don't you get rid of shooting sticks and crutches and do it all in one with a zimmer frame would be easier for you
@RussDouglas222 Жыл бұрын
I only count rats that I'm very confident expired soon after, that's down to the distinct noise of a very solid pellet-rat impact. ...and obviously I shoot in the most accessible / least uncomfortable way, which is an extra tall (rotating seat) bucket seat, and Trigger Sticks; a zimmer would be neither handy, or accessible, nor comfortable. Thanks for watching, cheers. Russ
