Legit thought this was a horror film, but turned out really wholesome and bittersweet. All these feelings in just less than 1 minute... this short deserved the award...

On a job from which I recently retired, as I would ride in on the bus each morning, I'd pass a telephone pole a couple of blocks from the entrance to the building with two red circular reflectors, and mouth-shaped tape under them placed on the pole. It was often the last smiling face I'd see over the next eight hours. That gives you an idea of how happy a workplace that was.

This literally happened to me. In 2018 I found out somebody I knew had passed on. I wasn't a good person back then but for some reason they believed in me. So I stumbled out to a store to do some grocery shopping and I kept seeing smiles in the oddest of places. This is when I decided to turn my life around. If this person believed in me so strongly I had my own shoes to fill. Thanks Karly.

Funny thing: last night, I included the word _pareidolia_ in a reply to someone's comment on a different video, then, this morning, this (present) video is in my recommendations. Seemingly, 'the algorithm' reads our replies to other people's comments!

@@mendelovitchwhat you're describing, that emotional blunting, sounds exactly like anhedonia. Its a symptom of depression, not necessarily a side effect of antidepressants. It can be tricky because most antidepressants take weeks to have their full effect, but that's probably a sign you need to dial in the dose/medication type with doctor.

Pareidolia and Memories "People we once really loved may be gone from our sight, but they will leave something that makes us recognize patterns of them wherever we go," is my fundamental interpretation of this short film. Pareidolia is a phenomenon in which people see faces or other patterns in ambiguous images. And based on the description of this film, the artists who created it use pareidolia to convey the importance of human connection and the role that memories can play in uplifting our mood and perception of the world around us. I find it impressive how they interpret Pareidolia in such a unique and motivating way in just one minute. I adore the cinematography's color grading, which is centered on the same blue side. It appears gloomy, which is perfect for the sentiments the film is attempting to portray. Regarding the camera angles, I was able to see the character's point of view on the pareidolia as well as the pareidolia's point of view and the character's reaction to the phenomena. The film's message was easier to connect courtesy to these two points of view. The lighting creates a dramatic impact and seems a touch gloomy without being overly bright or dark. Regarding the sound presentation of the film, the character's actions speak for themselves. Probably an orchestral piece at first, the background music in the video changed to something more fast-paced and dramatic in the final fifteen seconds. Sufficient to discern that the film was about to disclose anything. Narrative Structure: Plot development is effective since it began with the character's daily routine and how pareidolia accompanied every action he took. It was done in the order that a typical working person would do: getting out of bed, cleaning one's teeth, getting dressed after taking a good shower, making a meal, and then wrapping everything up before heading to work. The rationale for why he would consistently experience pareidolia and flash those strange smiles was then disclosed before he left for work. A suitable manner for the film to end. Symbolism: The smile of her gone daughter is symbolized by the pareidolia on the fried egg, pants, coffee cup, slippers, and comfort room sink. He has a lot of memories of her smile and her daughter, which is what caused him to recognize such smiles on the objects he uses and comes into contact with every day. To conclude my analysis, this film reminds us that love is a powerful emotion that has the ability to shape our lives in profound ways. When we love someone deeply, their impact on our lives often extends far beyond the time we spend with them. Even when they are no longer in our lives, the patterns they leave behind continue to influence us in various ways. This phenomenon speaks to the lasting impact of love and relationships, and how they shape the way we see the world. Jan Valerie B. Minque

In the first seconds I tought: "Why was this chosen for a Filmfestival." This is because it has some clichés like waking up because of an alarm. This is used so many times, that these are tiebreakers for filmfestivals to not take it. But the story and massage for sure did it.

Yes, I agree, you know Roberta Marie Munroe in her book: How Not to Make a Short Film, points it out twice in the things judges hate. But in this case it was unavoidable, especially if the alarm clock is also a face. ☺️ Thanks for your comment!

@@carlosarfilm if you ever need music for any upcoming projects, I would love to work with you. Been going through a cinematic phase lately, and my songs "Slow Lights" and "Air Flower" can make a scene exponentially more dramatic!

I remember as a kid probably around 5-7 years old I'd see faces something like how this video shows them but also it was like if I was seated in just the right angle and right perception I'd see faces to that would actually talk to me, weird I know. I think there's a term for it called metamorphosis, where if perceived at a right angle random objects make out a picture. I don't know why I remember this stuff something I seen trigger memories i forgot I had, but I remember these faces telling me things just I can't remember good enough to remember what it told me, just that I remember it happened. Always wondered if anyone had this sort of thing happen to them.
