Monica G. is a California State University Fullerton graduate and is a Certified Drug and Alcohol counselor who currently works in the non-profit sector at an 18-month Inpatient Drug and Alcohol facility for women and children.
Monica is also the mother of a 27-year-old son who began using marijuana at the age of 15. As his drug usage escalated into an addiction, the changes in him became obvious that something was seriously wrong. While his cohorts were preparing for college, her son was preparing to go to rehab for the first time. This was going to be the first of many. His most recent relapse from high THC marijuana put him into psychosis, which led to a 5150 and hospitalization.
Monica began her recovery journey through Al-Anon and was regularly attending meetings for 6 years when she discovered CRAFT two years ago and finds value in both methods. Currently, Monica wants to become an advocate and spread the message of the dangers of high-THC marijuana, and she hopes to do so by sharing her story.
Join us on the first Friday of every month for messages of hope and healing from the impacts of marijuana. Every month, we welcome a different speaker to share their experience and provide pathways to serenity as we navigate through today’s pro-marijuana/drug culture. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a loved one or trying to recover yourself, this meeting is for you. You will be a Q & A at the end of each session. This meeting is appropriate for all family members ages 16 and up.

And why dont schools educate children in the 10 to 15 age group with focus on real crisis that happens with addicts, with videos of the extreme mess they are in and put their families in, and that the addicts could be lacking empathy to do this to family. This age group may have no idea of psychosis

I am an American and my son is 29 . Since 2015 he is addicted to marijuana and suffered psychosis many times . I couldn’t get any proper help in newyork . I did put patient many times but nothing worked . I looked up this rehab place in INDIA , where for the first time I learnt that addiction is a brain disease . My son is in rehab run by a Nuero psychiatrist who specialized in addiction . My son is doing much better and I see him every week . If anyone interested I can share the link . It is much cheaper too , it’s fraction of what we pay there .

Listening to this lady.. it’s obvious they never had an open discussion with their son. They likely made him feel very alienated. Psych wards make people more psychotic. I remember when I was there for withdrawals (psych med withdrawal, prescribed for chronic pain 🙄) they had movies, all cartoons but they had the sixth sense and I was like lol wtf they really will let the mental patients sit here on seroquel and watch this shit. It’s wack. It’s so wack. This lady didn’t know how to talk to her son and just pushed him into more drug use. Forcing him into programs and shit? Obviously he was self medicating a gaping hole in his soul, being ridiculed by his family for years over marijuana definitely didn’t help the guy. Why wasn’t he medicated for ADHD? Ritalin, concerta. I quit weed and will never go back, when I first took ritalin I realized that is what I was using weed for, but the ritalin worked so much better. Clear headed finally.. but concerta has a gnarly come down. Kinda crazy.

Sorry, if this is an insensitive comment, aren't drug users totally lacking empathy and need treatement for their narcissism first?
