The sad thing is the majority of what they showed here is better than my school district's meals. The only thing they didn't touch on was how small the portions were. At my school at least, when we have meatballs, we get four (they're about golfball sized.). Even the high schoolers at my school get this small of portions. A growing, thinking and constantly moving body needs more fuel than that I would think. :/

I work in a school cafeteria, at my school the schools get free food and fresh produce for the children, however they don’t get free seasonings or butter, due to the chance of increasing sodium intake and food allergies. The school does have to have a standard nutrition plan for the kids, and a lot being either whole grain, fat free or low sodium. That’s why school lunches are so bland, in the state of ohio they ALMOST had to pass a new standard getting rid of breakfast and lunch foods with excess sugar (like food can’t surpass a certain percentage of the daily recommended sugar intake) and high glucose corn syrup, such as the multigrain poptarts, nutrition bars, cereal and cereal bars, chocolate or any flavored milk. It’s so much more strict than people would think, but school lunches are free now so I don’t have much room to talk down on it, but I can admit school lunches (or mine at least) was really good most of the time, we would get 2-3 options of the main dish which one option was usually leftovers, and if you didn’t want neither of those you could get these giant salads which were either chef’s salad (chicken and croutons with cheese), Italian salad, or a garden salad. If you didn’t get a salad you had to get a fruit and or a vegetables, to make a full 3 course meal set standard by the state. And if you had money you could by a bag of fat free or kettle cooked chips, a cookie, a rice crispy, or an ice cream bar. My school gets papa John’s pizza once or twice a month which is super nice too. I’m very fortunate for sure and I remember the first time I went back to school and mom broke it to me that I don’t need lunch money. Like okay fr? lol

Not to sound offensive to her, but she seems to be a lot like my sister in dozens looks. Every woman I have met that is similar actually would find this food disgusting. just because some one is large doesn't mean they eat every single thing. (I gained 80lbs when I stayed with her over summer break... I rarely ate before that... the food was heaven) So yeah I'm not saying yardstick jokes are bad, but at least make a joke that actually uses your brain. (jokes have to have some intelligence behind them to be funny to me)
