I'm sorry but I just love the couple and the way they interact with each other. They are adorable and they are great at explaining the stories behind why they chose how to organize their things.. I'm just enjoying listening to them and their future plans on what they may be adding there. I mean who WOULDN'T want to visit them and be their friend.

I'm going to bookmark this video! We're moving from a 1600 sf house to an apartment in San Francisco. The same apartment I lived in as a single woman quite comfortably (20 years ago). Since then I've accumulated a lot of stuff, and a husband. Your video has made me feel more confident that we'll have plenty of room, hopefully with a bit of your style/organization as well. Thanks for the tour, hope you and your furry family are all doing well.

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment. And I too use the bath tub to wash containers, the fridge/freezer drawers, etc,. We stopped using the oven and use it as storage for pots and pans, purchased an air fryer, it is so cheaper to run and easier to clean. We are Vegan/Vegetarian, so no need to cook a turkey!

I absolutely loved your friendly and delightful video! Your home is beautiful and you have been so clever and inventive with everything, so that it looks really quite spacious! I love your gorgeous dog and cat too, they look perfectly content and obviously adore you both! I am a little obsessed with all things Paris, even though I'm now a senior lady, my only, very brief visit was when I was 19 and a nanny for the daughter of a British titled lady. I had to accompany the child from UK to my employer's second home in the Normandy countryside, for a 3 week stay. We had a short time in Paris en route, just enough to take my photo of the Eiffel Tower etc. I was so looking to a very long awaited return two weeks ago, which very sadly had to be cancelled due to travel regs. I was also hoping to go next March to celebrate a milestone birthday, but here in UK, things are escalating health wise, so it may not even be possible then. I so envy you, being able to enjoy everything that beautiful Paris offers, especially during the festive season. Have a wonderful Christmas! Best wishes from UK.

Thank you so much! You are very kind! And I can feel your love of Paris in your words. Travel is so complicated at the moment. I do hope your trip will eventually pan out. I have a milestone birthday coming up in January as well and we were hoping to take our first larger trip post-covid, but it looks like we will postpone a bit as well. We're doing our best to capture some festive Paris scenes this week before we depart to the U.S. for the holidays. Stay tuned! I'm hoping we will have time to post a video here on our channel. Thank you again for taking the time to stop by and leave us a comment, it means a lot! Crossing my fingers your trip will work out later. Happy Holidays!!

We must not have needed the air running that day. Normally we only use it while we are sleeping at night, but there's almost always one harsh "canicule" heatwave to come through where we need it on during the day in our living room too.

You could put that oven on top of the fridge as UR so tall, and put a dishwasher drawer were the oven is now. I love the small enclosed European kitchens with everything within reach.....never could stand the open Floorplan, and don't like my guests underfoot in the kitchen when I'm cooking. Love the long, narrow balcony 😍 💕.

440 sq.feet really isn't all that small it's really a matter of how the apartment is designed.I Maybe takes a little getting used to doing pots & pans in the bathtub & having everything everywhere. Im currently renting a room in a friend's house & I've had to turn it into a small studio & it can be very challenging! But l found your apartment charming & really enjoyed the calm relaxed tour- I love seeing how other people live decorate & make things work. The liquor caninet the bedroom & the tiny toilet room were probably my favorite parts of the apartment I loved the Itailian lights the wardrobes & the way you turned pup- pup's crate into a nite table.The livingroom looked a little unfinished but has great potential (I kind of took the liberty of imagining what should go in there as decorating is my passion) I also thought the windows in the kitchen & the herb garden were very nice. I did get a little acrophobic on the terrace- sorry I'm just one of those people that wonders if the flooring is going to hold up or the railing is going to give way but I weren't man what a view! I'd sit out there with my tea & croissant or wine & cheese but of course lol I personally wouldn't be able to bring myself out there but I would be enjoying those French doors. I lived in Mexico for awhile years ago & the apartment had French doors & a balcony & I loved it ( only the second floor no panic there...) Anyway thank you both so much for the apartment tour I had a great time.

Thank you so much Denise! What a kind, thoughtful, and thorough review. :) I'd love to see your vision for the living room, haha. I think it may be in a better state now. I think our curtains, sheers and double curtain rod are new since the video, as well as a rug, and possibly an ottoman any day now if it would ever get delivered. Always evolving just a touch. Most days I don't mind the smaller space, just need a touch more storage space, but other than that, it is quite cozy. Thanks again for your feedback!

Aww thx you are most welcome! I think window treatment & rugs are a great way to start & then let it evolve from there. I'd be a little nervous lol giving you my vision but I do have one! Lovely appartment, balcony is def an added bonus. I wouldn't be able to live in appartment without a balcony. We are lucky to have two. One facing south so I have all my raised veg beds and herbs there and also washing lines to dry our laundry in summer. Try a laundry rack, will save you going to the laundry and there is nothing better then fresh sun dried sheets on your bed... Lovely whippet ❤, a bit on a big side isn't he ...

Thank you! We do have a laundry rack that we use on the regular, but I'm not sure they allow it on our balcony unless I make it more privatized to the neighbors across from us. And yes, our pup is definitely on the bigger side as far as Whippets go - most people thing he is a Greyhound. :p

The reason why you have to store eggs in a fridge in the US is because they are washed, and stripped of the natural protective layer that allows you to store them in room temperature here, in France. I just came across your channel & so happy I did. Liked the banter between the two of you. Your apartment is lovely. I downsized from a 1300 sq. foot 2 bedroom suburban home to a 592 sq. foot downtown studio. I took many loved possessions to the auction house but I really wanted the lifestyle change. No regrets with the move. I don’t use a dishwasher so I think it was a smart move to get the washer/dryer combo. Does it not dry well? You’ve done a really great job with the kitchen storage. If you don’t use some of your cookbooks take them to a second hand bookstore. Your chien is precious. Like what you did with the dog crate in the bedroom. You’re all nestled in there together at bedtime. Very nice terrace. I plan to visit Paris once this crazy pandemic is over.

Aww! Thank you so much! You definitely understand! I love the smaller living too, but it's definitely time to do a spring cleaning this coming season. Our dryer dries, but it tends to ruin some pants depending on the material - if it's stretch at all the material turns to cat whiskers. So we usually just air dry or run them to the laundry mat to dry them. Hopefully we'll see you in Paris someday! We look forward to being able to travel more freely again ourselves.

Hi there and thanks for watching! The toilet room is almost always separate from the bath/shower room in France, as it is in ours. The only time people have to go in our bedroom is if they're showering :) And yeah, the struggle with missing central air is real for about 3 weeks out of the year, but the rest of the time it's actually quite nice to always have the terrasse doors open :)

So glad you are settling in. May I make a few observations. In every room and storage content there was a mix of items, dishes, books, booze, documents, stuff etc. Try and reconfigure your storage by type. Your booze in the kitchen unit can be in the sitting room cupboard. You dont necessarily need the pass through the 'oven' could go there with a drinks inshot from the sitting room side behind it. Alternatively a full oven could go under hob by changing carcass. Indeed if you are staying there long enough redo kitchen with upper units full height and mount oven and microwave at eyelevel to right of hob with deep lower drawers for all pots n crocks n gadgets which appear to be everywhere else. Mini Dishwasher under hob where existing oven is. You can find a lovely spice rack free standing on hob which you only have to move when cooking giving more room for the dishes stored elsewhere. I am surprised washer dryer in kitchen in France, more usually installed in bathroom. As I say collate all same and similar items in same location and design storage around achieving that. Storing in plain sight decoratively is also a great trick of the trade. IKEA has many open frame structures to make full use of volume, particularly height and cute little steps to access less frequently used items when needed. So instead of making do. Have a complete rethink. Collate all items which should be to hand and grouped and then see how to house them together, working your way through the house. Like bad weather is resolved through wearing the right clothing, so too is poor access and retrieval in a limited space resolved by optimum storage and display. If there is anything you really don't need to have to hand (like the unused cook books) send them home to storage. You have the Internet for any recipe you may need. I hope you find this helpful. 🙏

Hello from Greece. I think you have done a great job with your limited space, even though you are not used to living in a small apartment. You seem to be lovely people and love the life you live. I would like to point out one thing to you. It has to do with my country's flag in your bathroom. Any nation's flag is considered a symbol of high importance and represents some of the values of their people. They should all be respected by everyone like their own. The Greek flag especially embeds a very important value between it's stripes, that goes back 200 years in history, when the Greek revolution to free the nation from the Ottoman empire's 400 years occupation, begun. It has 9 blue and white horizontal stripes (blue for the sea and white for the land), as many as the syllables of the phrase: "eleftheria e thanatos" , meaning "freedom or death", which was the main quote that inspired the people to fight for their freedom. We are very proud of our flag and it's history , as I am sure you are of your country's flag. A flag's place is on a pole where it can wave by the wind, on a wall, a window where it can be seen or in some kind of storage. It is NOT just another random piece of fabric and cannot certainly be mistreated as one. I cannot understand why anyone would put a national flag in a bathroom over the toilet, insulting a whole nation and it's history like that. How would you feel if you saw your country's flag in someone's bathroom, over the "poop hole"? You seem like nice people but, as a Greek , I feel offended.
@doug8263
@doug8263 2 жыл бұрын
Oh no! Thank you for sharing your perspective Vicky. And I'm happy you can see we are lovely people bc we certainly meant no ill-intent. As you can see, there's very limited space in our apartment for hanging things, and in our old apartment we had it on a wall actually. It is a flag that flew on our boat on our catamaran trip in Greece with two of our best friends just before covid. At the end of our journey, we asked our Captain, Stelios, if we could perhaps have it. It's honestly my favorite trip we have taken, one of my favorite souvenirs, and I have so many wonderful, beautiful, authentic Greek memories from the trip. So in fact, even though I agree it may seem an awkward place, the bathroom is a place I visit several times a day ;P and it does give me great joy when I see it. I was just thinking the other day how much the flag meant to me. In the bathroom there's also a photo from New Orleans where we were married - a print left to us by a friend. Again, it seems a weird space, but simply available wall space to enjoy items that do mean a lot to us.

This was well-done in a relaxed fashion and informative. My only suggestion is to get rid of the huge plastic boxwood frame in the living room and simply install a 4 x 6 painted sheet of dry wall or plywood. I had to laugh because I kept the two Cajun seasonings in my cabinet in Prague. and kept Hungarian smoky paprika in the US kitchen. The lovely wife needs to have some voice training to cure the ''tight/scratchy throat,'' and be aware of her constant ''upspeaking'' at the end of sentences. Both are annoying over time. Otherwise, merci and all the best.

Thanks for the feedback Carol. Amazing how we become so attached to our spices. The cutout area in the living room is larger than 4x6 -- unfortunately we rent and don't own -- so for now we feel this is the best solution. I hope to take singing lessons, maybe that will cure the upswing in my voice and maybe not. ;) The French actually speak in a sing-song way sometimes, so maybe I'm assimilating more than I realize. Lol. And it's also a bit of nerves from being recorded I'm sure. I also tend to be a generally happy person so it may come out that way on video via my voice. idk. I'll keep this in mind the next time we record -- but I'm not going to let it get too much in my head and stress me out bc I just want to be me at the end of the day.

Hi there! We don't think the tour was irrelevant at all, but sorry you feel that way. It wasn't meant to be a tour to rent the apt. out, but more to show people what life is like in Paris in our apt. It's like watching house hunters on tv where they show million dollar listings. That's probably unaffordable for most but people still like to see different lifestyles and homes. That being said, our new video series that we just started to publish takes our viewers on the hunt for a new apartment and we share all the details of pricing, square footage, etc. so maybe that video and series will be more enjoyable for you.
