Tolkien's fantasy writing was meant to create a mythology for England because he believed their own myths had been lost by ceaseless invasions. He had a high regard for women, but he was drawing inspiration from the literature of very early Nordic times. He was also a product of his own time, born in the Victorian era. Women had only recently won the right to vote when he first thought of the stories. His ideas were ahead of their time.

She is a lifelong Tolkien fan, and yet she had no problems being involved with a movie that completely urinates all over Tolkien. Cringe faker. Almost as fake as the interviewer.

Tolkien welcomed other creative artists' taking inspiration from his writings. I often wonder if Christopher wasn't more of a purist an his father. Anyway, that's a very harsh critique.
