A lot of schools have a program where like 5-12 can tryout and if your good enough you can play. Sometimes this happens when you don't have enough players at highschool level. My school does the same thing, when I moved here my 8th grade year I got put up on varsity so I couldn't play middle school soccer. just how schools are ig 🤷🏻‍♀️
