my Grandparents moved here in the late 1970s when it was pretty empty and became a destination for family get togethers.. The Spoke, the pool for the kids and yes we even played shuffle board. They lived on Yew Ct? I think... they are long gone but nice to see the community still lives on.

Keep in mind, you own the building (house) but you don't own the land. A number of years ago, when a person sold their home, Sandycove usually upped the rent on that land. You are responsible for the upkeep., lawns mowed, sidewalk cleared in winter, etc. I bought in March/2012...and sold in July/2012. It wasn't for me. Back then also, you were expected to have the "park" tv service. A lot of people didn't..but I will say the "park" tv service was very good, & we got a lot of channels.

But with that rent comes 2 pools, woodworking shop, shuffleboard, 3 recreation centres, indoor and outdoor shuffleboard courts, every kind of event, dance, card games you can think of and we just had a FREE outdoor concert with Canada's Legendary Keith Hampshire! You don't get any of that in a condo, apartment or freehold home! We also have Rogers Ignite tv and internet throughout the community now!

@@bba.by.marilyn It took long enough for you to get decent internet. At one point, people living at SC couldn't have Rogers anything. I didn't care about the pools, shuffleboard courts, etc.etc. My home was my home. I was RENTING the land, but owned the home. Back when I bought, you didnt' get to see the lease agreement until after the house was bought. Had I known what was in that lease, I would not have gone through with the purchase. You can't do this/that. My house was bought in early March...I moved in mid-March & listed it for sale in early July. It sold in 3 weeks. So glad I left. SC isn't for everyone; that's for sure.

@@gailaspinall1688 well, it's certainly for a lot of people since there are 1,330 homes and all are occupied. As I said, behere 15 years and never had a problem with Total Cable's tv service. I went with Bell for Internet right away so yes, you couldn't get Rogers but you could get Bell and lots of other providers also. Perhaps had you left your home a bit, you might have enjoyed it more once you got to know the wonderful people in the community. But since you've been gone for over 10 years now, I hope you can soon stop speaking for others who do love it here and only leave when age or illness makes it impossible to be here any longer.

Peggy...I don't think rentals are allowed. You either buy the house or you don't.

At one time, people had to be 45yrs of age or older. Families, friends can visit, but to move in...you need permission. I don't think a young family would be permitted to live there.
