Your work boat is going to be solid as a rock and serviceable for many years to come. If you had an aluminum fuel replacement tank made, I would suggest a coating on the outside to at least slow down the corrosion and add some years to the tank. Excellent work and progress on the boat, I am impressed. Keep your chin up, you will get finished soon and be back on the water. Glad I found your channel, I look forward to future videos. With great respect... Joe

@@TrentonKnepp Trenton, I should have known better than try and give advice to someone with your experience, you are way ahead of me on the tank coating. Great boat work, I look forward to see what all you do. Thanks for sharing this build with us... Joe

If you are going to do it. Do it right! Especially if it’s your source of income and your safety depends on it! Very nice job!

curious why when you rebuilt the transom you didnt fill in the old motor well cutout... i guess rebuilding what's there and not engineering something new is at least a known quantity.. Your glasswork looks fantastc

I prefer to have it open. Every year I get swamped when crabbing. One snap of the throttle and the water pours out of the back instantly.
@primetimefishing2436 Жыл бұрын
I would seriously consider just doing all of it with new composite now since you already have it all open and have the materials, time already lost and most importantly health and strength to do it.
@TrentonKnepp Жыл бұрын
I am using vinylester resin and kay cel composit board. I have the transom and half of the stringers finished. I am posting the videos as my daughter edits them. I have 3 videos up now and plan on releasing the 4th this weekend. Thanks for watching

What amazes me is Parker boats has a no rot lifetime warranty They even build a model where they put the pilot house on Crooked
@TrentonKnepp Жыл бұрын
The sad thing is that they are still using wood. There is no excuse to sell a boat for over $100k with wood

Yup - Parkers are junk, but I guess the folks fall for marketing baloney.

Wouldn't it be good if boat manufacturers built their boats the way customers rebuilt them? They don't build them to last, even options added by dealers are most times installed wrong.They drill into wood and put screws in and do nothing to seal it so water doesn't get in. I couldn't believe some of the stuff I saw on mine.I got rid of her but not before losing a lot of money. Are you planning on putting foam back in?
@TrentonKnepp Жыл бұрын
No foam we sink like real men. I am making the bottom thicker and adding bulkheads to compensate for the missing foam.

I never understood why people claim Parkers are good boats. They are cheaply constructed with plywood substructure, decks, & bulkheads much of which is not encapsulated in glass and rot away in a decade. They are poor performers - they're heavy and they pound in a small sea. And, they have few useful features - fishboxes, live well, storage holds. I guess cold-wx boaters like the pilot houses.
@CaptainSloose Жыл бұрын
former parker owner here... the pilot house is really nice, and the 9.5' beam and the huge cockpit is pretty damned nice. They are generally very simple boats and not a lot to get in the way or go wrong. Everything else you say is absolutely true though. They ride like shit, they are slow, heavy, etc.
