This razor is fantastic. I loved the Merkur 37c so much that I wanted to try another slant. Since I just received this razor, I have only shaved a couple of times with the Parker semi-slant. This razor is very efficient and smooth, absolutely a fantastic shaves. The Merkur 37c and Parker semi-slant are both superb. I prefer the build of the Parker slightly more, it is gorgeous.
@heisenberg4702 жыл бұрын
What do you think are the differences compared to the 37C in terms of shaving? I'm talking in terms of cutting efficiency, smoothness, etc. Does it really make sense to buy it already having the Merkur?
@brianh22872 жыл бұрын
@@heisenberg470 No it doesn't make sense, most purchases don't in wet shaving. I buy A LOT of products I don't need in wet shaving. I simply love razors, but the Merkur 37c is a fantastic razor. The 37c is so good that it's one of those razors you can say you don't need another razor beyond that. The Parker feels slightly more efficient than the 37c and the Parker is a more solid build. My favorite slant is the IKON X3, and it's one of my favorite razors in my collection.

The build quality looks just as good as the Variant, solid with a nice weight. Never used a Slant but that’s tempting. Great combination of products. Loved seeing Riley having fun in the Sun, well played Kevy, the grass looks immaculate!. The choc is a smashing combination as well.

Hi Kevy- Great shave and Parker razor review; thank you! Quite a nice-looking razor; did a great job. Great to see Mr Riley in action out in the yard; thank you! You have convinced me to buy one of these. Someone gave me a Merkur 37c on one of the forums and I love that. People say that is not for inexperienced but I had not been long to DE shaving when I used it first. It’s efficient and not aggressive: good for both heavy beards and sensitive skin. Fancy trying one of the Fatip Lo Stoltos at some point but no idea whether to buy open or closed comb ones.

WooHoo! The Semi-Slant was worth the weight. A smashing review, and demonstration, Kev. I have a hypothesis that the lather channel design contributes to amplifying the audio feedback to a Nigel Tufnel 11. The loudest to date of your razor collection. All the Parker and Taconic shave accoutrements are not only well performing, they are top tier in value. Thank you for the sharp closeup shots of the SL-55. It should give prospective buyers a concise look at the razor's design before commitment. Lovely lather from that synthetic knot. I'm yet to try the Taconic pump cream(s). I expect an entire plethora of blades will get a go in the SL-55. It makes me tense with anticipation for the varied outcomes. Cheers to Nancy, and Howi for their unsurpassed kindness and support. Many thanks for the outdoor footage of Riley. He is so energetic, playful, and dearly loves his dad. That brought a unique feature to this masterful episode. Thank you, mate! My dearest regards to Shona. Enjoy the weekend...

You're correct Alex. The lather channel gap probably adds to the loudness of this razor. Yet again, Parker have a produced a well made, well thought out, great looking and affordable razor to add to their amazing collection of DE razors. Looks like a very well made and weighty razor. The slant, so I’ve been told, cuts more efficient since it makes a slicing movement like a knive. A normal razor will pull the hair a little bit so it’s a bit more irritating than you’d get with a slant.

I have been wet shaving for years but only using DE razors for about 2 months. My main ones being the King C, Muhle R106 and the Merkur 34G. I never thought that I would get into such a routine and end up watching blokes shaving!! I saw this and thought I would give it a go as everyone seemes to class it as mild. Arrived yesterday and tried it as soon as I could and it gave a real good smooth shave and felt great in the hand. The only issue I had was when going against the grain, I accidently moved it sideways on my chin whilst turning it around and caused quite a nick. I am assuming that this is a trait of the more aggressive razors that show more blade?? Apart from that, it was really good but I think I need to be a little more careful in the future. Great videos as well :)

Great shave, Kevy. I've been thinking about getting that razor, my first and only slant is a RazoRock German 37 which shaves great as long as I don't over do it. I use a pre-shave oil/balm before each pass: 1st - whole face, 2nd , 3rd & pick up on my neck trouble spots only. It works for me to help with irritation. Have a great and safe weekend!

I like that slant v. much. I think I like it more than E.Jagger's 316 new razor. The thing is though that UK/Europe never get brand new razors (other than UK-made ones, of course) as quickly as the States. That website you mentioned sent you this razor is based in the US -- if not mistaken. Unrealistic costs to have this new parker shipped to the UK. I love your dog! I've got dogs myself -- love them. The preshave oils seem to me like a huge scam. They sell them for an arm and a leg, and it's usually a mix of really cheap oils you can buy at the supermarket..... I have tried a lot of them and cannot tell any difference. The other day tried coconut oil....let it soak and then lathered on top....had probably one of the worst shaves (lots of irritation). Well we all use whatever we want to try and however we feel like it.... very nice video..... for some reason I try to stay away from products from China and India.....irrespective of their cost savings..... Cheers and have a nice weekend

Loved the review so much I subbed ! Nice to see a shaving video that mixes things up a bit and definitely light hearted. I was wondering if Parker made a straight regular razor like this long handle but without the slant ? I'm looking for an aggressive razor as my beard is like barbed wire.. I'm thinking I don't want to have to negotiate a slant head and a regular head might be more to my liking as long as it is aggressive enough. I might be wrong about the slant head.... Thanks in advance !

Hey Kevy great demonstration! What do you think about having this razor for shaving every other day (there are times are shave more often). Compared to the parker 99r how would you say this is for someone with sensitive skin and medium to more coarse hair? How's it on the my mustache area as that tends to be a little bit of my challenging area, hence sometimes I end up keeping a mustache sometimes haha. I use derby blades and have especially coarse hair on my mustache area so I want to know if this would be a good alternative to parker 99r. I use the variant most of the time but sometimes I don't always want to use an adjustable because I don't want to always have the need to use an adjustable, I will still use my parker variant for sure though as it is a great razor, again I don't want to just always use the variant.

School's in session! :P #1. In North America "Semi" is pronounced the same as in the UK, as Sim-mee with one notable exception. When referring to Big Rigs, Tractor Trailers, Big Trucks and etc. the term Semi pronounced as Sim-my is often heard/used. #2. Cadbury is well known in the States. Every year from Feb through Easter the Cadbury Easter Bunny commercial plays on TV. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmLHooaZeqtnlac #3. My opinion, you probably get the weepers as a consequence of taking too long of a stroke. You tend to take long rapid strokes and think diminishes your ability to minutely adjust the razor to the contours of your face. I am aware some think it is that you go too fast(which could indeed by a factor)but I think it is length of the strokes that is the culprit. School's out. Summer vacation resume.... :P

Something weird is going on with the KZbin comment section. Originally, I made a comment which somehow separated into about 5 or 6 split versions of itself. When I noticed this I made a apology comment so that you'd know I was not spamming or trolling the section and it too malfunctioned. I deleted twice and still a version of it remains. So sorry, if you're seeing multiples or skips of this comment too. The original comment seems to have evaporated so here is what I originally wrote. #1. In the US Semi is pronounced the same as in the UK. The exception is when referring to Big Trucks, Big Rigs, Tractor Trailers and Transfer Trunks(all of which are used interchangeably) but depending on where you live Semi pronounced as Sim:My is often heard. #2. Cadbury is very well known in the States. From late Jan or mid February the Cadbury Easter Bunny commercial airs on TV right up to Easter. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmLHooaZeqtnlac #3. In my opinion, it is the length of your strokes which contribute to the weepers. You tend to take long rapid strokes but it is not the speed which is the culprit. I think your control over the razor is slightly diminished by the long strokes but, of course, I could be dead wrong. ;-)

This razor is truly crap, great build quality tho but shaves like a potato. this is probably the reason why Parker is selling these razors by the cheap on Amazon (bought mine for $25) The finish of this razor is truly extraordinary, almost perfect like my Rockwell razor. No matter which shaving soap, creams and blades you use this razor just doesnt cut it literally. I need to do 20 passes and still skips hairs, my Merkur 38c barberpole needs one pass and my cheeks are soft as a baby's bum.

That doesn't sound right Jerry. Have you contacted the place you bought it from? I've never heard anyone else have this sort of trouble with this razor. Cheers. Kevy 👍

I prefer this razor over the Merkur. Better handle, nicer head and not as aggressive. Cheers. Kevy 😀👍

You are bang on abt the length of strokes mate. Even i have experienced tht in my shaving. Shorter strokes give a nick free shaving.. good observation
