Amazing video, Parker & Landon! I am extremely humbled to see myself mentioned on this channel. Thanks for all the knowledge you've shared over the years. As a person who never attended a formal film school, it's videos just like this that helped me learn and grow my own business. Keep crushing! 👏

you, Daniel, James, Fulltime Filmmaker, and the other "epic b-roll" people are the people I have learned THE MOST from. I like the "epic b-roll" trebd SO much because I learn the most from them in the shortest amount of time. Seeing someone execute a shoot from start to finish and explain the process DURING it is the best kind of educational content. It's the most learning in the most compact amount of time. It's basically like digital job shadowing. I greatly appreciate all you guys who do it, even though I'm sure it gets tiring and somewhat repetitive to do.

Something I learnt with shots that for example move closer to the subject making it come into focus, is to start the shot up close and in focus, drag out leaving it out of focus, then reverse in post.

Its depending on what kind of film you are make. Here you mostly make close shots with wide angel and moving camera. This kind of footage you can’t practice only when you make a travel video. For this genre you need various camera movements and positions and angels, what you cannot handle completely handheld without an ibis. And also your demonstrated handheld takes must pass the post pro stabilisation when they shall look professionally in tv-screen size.

Your videos on shooting handheld AND with stabilizers have been very helpful for learning to shoot close slow moving and steady shots without the dreaded judders - like the pro Steadicam guys do it. A few thoughts on focus, aperture, and lighting trade-offs would be welcome sometime.

Great tips all around but I’m having mixed feelings about not using image stabilization... yes, when you shoot with an 85mm, it MIGHT show itself, but then again you suggested to use a wide angle right afterwards anyway, so..... that’d pretty much make it unnoticable. Also, you suggested using warp when necessary, but in comparison IS almost always does a better job if you can choose only one. And when you combine wide lens + IS + warp stb. (+ slo mo as BONUS) = the fighting off for handheld movements is pretty much gone... that is at least what I experienced.
