Me too. I cried several times during his statement, and then balled my eyes out more after. I just can't believe what's going on in our world now. Kids bringing guns to school to get revenge or whatever it is their seeking. I'll never forget Columbine and all the others, especially this one... So fresh.

I’ve seen this man sitting in this courtroom daily. Silent. Same expression. To hear him speak today, about his life and loss from this horrible case was absolutely devastating. Truly heartbreaking. I hope that he and the other families will have justice one day soon.

This hit so close to home, this man reminds me so much of my father, even how he looks but especially the things he said and I just keep imagining him standing up there having to go through this pain because of someone’s disgusting actions. The words he said, the hand gesture the stories it was like exactly what my father would say. I can’t imagine how I would feel if any of my family members were murdered and it took over 4 years to even BEGIN to get justice, I can’t imagine my life without my older brother he’s everything to me. I teared up when he talked about Scott and the wonderful human being he was, the things he did for people, for children. Those memories will always live on, not just with your family Scott, but the world. We heard about it here in the UK, but coverage was spotty. We need to remember each of the 17 people who lost their lives in such a cruel, senseless way. Learn who they were, what they enjoyed. This gentleman his summed up everything this animal deserves, and everything he will get, and be forgotten about as much as is humanly possible.

I feel horrible for these families, but honestly, I don't think the system has failed them. I've been to prison twice. I've never killed anyone or done anything close to what Nikolas did. But I do know what the inside of the private prisons in Florida look like, and I have a good idea of what prison he's going to end up in. He's going to suffer infinitely more doing life in a private Florida prison, than sitting on death row in a government run Florida prison.

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost my little brother and watching my mother go through that was the worst part of it all. There is nothing more heartbreaking than watching a parent grieve. He was also my best friend I experienced sounds I've never heard come out of my body My mom mentioned the same. You smell their clothing because you're trying to find them... My mom has not been the same to this day. Trauma is a very real thing and unfortunately there's not enough help available. It sounds like you did an amazing job with your son❤️

I’ve noticed this man in the courtroom many times and he has always peaked my interest. I knew when he finally had his opportunity to speak he was going to do a phenomenal job and I was right. As soon as he said he was an attorney I knew it was going to be very powerful and well spoken. That has forever changed how Christmas is viewed in my and his Sisters view. I try hard to keep it normal Christmas, it’s just difficult. I’ve gone through counseling and not much help- but we continue to continue.. I just hope and Pray the Families are able to find some solace in that the POS can never do that to any other family.

It’s cases like this where I’m just disgusted that a trial even takes place. That the victim’s families have to be dragged through such a pointless and ridiculous waste of time on top of having to grieve. A trial for someone who may or may not have committed a murder deserves a trial but when you have incidents like this it’s so unjust for them to put up with this when what they’ve already gone through is indescribable. Of course the issue of deciding what should happen to the monster exists but I still hate it so much. I’m glad the victims get to have their say but they shouldn’t have to do it this way and wait so long and go through all of this to do it.

I've watched this so many times and it doesn't easier. I respect this man so much who served as an attorney for 45 years and to call out those unprofessional lawyers the way he did. Also, I feel sorry for the daughter Melissa here, knowing that her birthday is also the anniversary of her brother’s death. Because now what is supposed to be a very joyous celebration is now a reminder of tragedy. What the Parkland murderer has done is so cruel and so heinous, and to know he has no remorse and atonement for what he has done makes me angry. And he gets to live his life in prison, while 17 people he shot ARE DEAD! I used to wonder if we should ever abolish the death penalty, but now I know where I stand-don’t abolish it, and definitely ensure the FL State Law is changed so that majority rule, not unanimous rule, is the basis for deciding on the death penalty!

Everything you said in the beginning, Absolutely u r right. But as far as the death penalty goes, I kind of lean towards Abolish death penalty, yes what this guy Nikolas Cruz was evil, but if it had been me, I would’ve sent him to serve life at the Hague for crimes against humanity.

In the State of Florida, Cruz has the choice of either dying by lethal injection or the electric chair. In my honest opinion, however, it should be dousing in gasoline and setting him alight. Then, all the Parkland victims’ lives will be properly avenged.

The death penalty is way too merciful. If you execute them it means they get away scot free with their crimes. Why are you on the side of this murderer? Why do you want to give him mercy? No, spending the remaining decades of his life in constant pain and agony and anguish, never feeling safe ever again, being beaten up and raped daily, that's what he deserves. Not mercy.
