Just discovering my First Nation past. It was almost lost to us. But I found us! My connection is Monette/Little Shell, & Monette/Grant/Clearsky. Have even reconnected with family. Found my 3rd great grandpas Metis scrip number...proud of my multilayered roots.

Hello fam, Also a grant and clear sky descent. This connection was also buried in my family. Which is such a shame.

I am German, so I have no connection to anything (as far as I know). I am just fascinated. I watched this little film in the hope of finding out more about specific Métis women, i.e. their stories. Unfortunately, only their names are mentioned and it seems they are not too well known, because Google didn't know them. That is really unfortunate for me, seeking to know, understand (and be able to imagine) more. Does anyone know of a website (preferably in English) where such stories are set down? I would really appreciate it!

Not fair that metis are seen as mixed people of native american and French ancestry but mestzios which are 10 times larger in population than metis and are native american mix Spanish ancestry are considered Hispanic.

No time than the present than to start the process to making that happen. If your comment is a story from your family, you should start making things happen and I wish you the very best. Everyone has their story to tell. Tell you story 🙂

We are the descendants of mixed marriages during the fur trades and early settlers. Our genetics can throw out any hair or eye or skin colour. We are a people of shared culture and heritage. Our identity is not rooted in shallow physical characteristics.
