I don't want to sound like a douche, but I feel like people give Killswitch more credit than they deserve. I always felt that they were a pretty mediocre band (but Adam D is a beast, and his production rocks). I couldn't get into All That Remains, despite how solid some of their songs are. I would probably say As I Lay Dying, Parkway, and August Burns Red kinda redefined metalcore for what it's become today. Though we can't discount the influence of early Atreyu and Waking the Falling era Avenged Sevenfold.

If we are talking modern or commercial Metalcore, then sure, But bands like Integrity, Ringworm, Merauder. Converge, All Out War and Earth Crisis were the bands that borderline created the genre 10 years prior to the inception of all the popular Metalcore bands today. Or at least before metal became a more prominent influence over hardcore.

If you like this band check out their documentary, its awesome, best band story ever, these guys came to US and made this CD in 2 weeks! Unreal! and not only that, when they went on tour they did it right, stopped at every bridge and jumped in the water, slept under the stars, pulled huge blowout crowds at all their shows, even in the smallest cities. Mad respect-brutal music, unrelenting breakdowns every few seconds. Winston's Vocals rip hearts, and the guitars stay shredding at a steady spectacularness that can only be explained by listening to this CD, and follow up with "Deep Blue" and "Atlas" Albums

Epic fucking breakdowns, Power Metal/Thrash Metal styled riffs, Incredible Growling/Screaming that's like Death Metal quality, crazy ass solos and some of the sickest lyrics I've ever heard.. lol as a guitarist i mostly pay attention to the guitar parts and i think this album and Don't Close Your Eyes have alot of (early 2000s ) post-hardcore and metalcore influence . but i also hear alot of riffs that have roots in the swedish melodic deathmetal genre. if you ask people what genre parkway drive is 99 percent of the people will say metalcore but who gives a fuck about genres its about the music (sorry for the bad english im not english speaking)

Probably my favorite Metal band ever. The breakdowns are killer, the screams are brutal, musically speaking, they're just phenomenal. But what I love the most is that they're just a group of regular dudes making hardcore music. No gimmicks. No makeup or costumes. Just them and the music they love. Plus, it helps that they aren't concerned with getting a whiny scene kid to do clean vocals. I personally don't have a problem with bands that do that. But I definitely appreciate these guys for keeping the vibes of their songs as heavy as possible without them being Anti-Semitic or nihilistic preach fests.

Here we are halfway through 2016 and this is by far my favorite band! All their albums are insanely well done! They take an average of 2 years to make sure they give each song their all. The guitar breakdowns are just perfect and I'm going to see them live this upcoming Oct. 🤘🏻
