That's another brilliant video Tim... The larger ESC motor setup in the video... I see that the ESC was 15 amp and you're using 7.4 volt battery... What size Kv was the motor. And I presume you would be putting this into something around and 12 to 18 inches wingspan... Thanks Colin.

Colin: I am not sure of the motor Kv. I generally use a 15 amp ESC with my two cell lipo projects, and a 25 amp for three cell. Seems to work. Tim

What an excellent video! I’m not a flyer, haven’t built in, oh, 40 years, but remain interested. This was wonderfully informative.

Watched the video . . . Thanks Tim for a very informative session. I have a Giullows 'Arrow' that I'd like to convert to electric, but when I went to the webpage I found that they've discontinued the ParkZone from the sales! Any suggestions as to where I can find a replacement??

Amazon and Google search can find these units. Also see www.StevensAero.com. I also have a video on the Arrow conversion. Good luck! Tim

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of StevensAero. I've placed an order, now just have to wait until it arrives in Canada - lol.

Tim I am getting back into model aircraft. I have dabbled off and on since the days of Comet models printed on sheet balsa. I have built Guillows models for years and got all excited with your conversions. I am building a new model board and I have ordered up the Guillows 170 and the Dumas Stinson SR 10 both of which I have owned. I believe I will get a Guillows Arrow for Christmas. So with this build up I have hit a wall with the electronics. The Park zone ultra micro set up does not appear to be available anymore anywhere. Its not just back ordered, It doesn't appear to manufactured anymore. The small bricks on Stevens are back ordered and have brushed ESC's. All the small bricks with servos seem to be 7.4 volt setups. What are the chances of a new video with some thoughts of how to put together a micro set up without a hobby store and only access to the internet for expertise and info. By the way I couldn't find your email on the intro.

Thorndike: Let me reach out to the folks at StevensAero.com to see what they have to say. I do understand that with global supply chains there will be some disruptions. But if you do a Google search for "4 channel ultra micro radio control system" then click under "Google Shopping", you will see a number of companies that offer these ultra micro systems. But let me check with Stevens, will update early 2022 with a video. Tim

Thanks for the information. Could you please provide me with a link to the ParkZone brick you are featuring? And do you know if there are kits that include a brick and the motor with a prop? Thanks again.

GW: This video should help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6Pbp2yYpt-Netk www.StevensAero.com is pretty much one stop shopping for the brick and models designed just for the ParkZone hardware. The ultra-micro kits are all laser cut, go together perfectly. Tim

Hi Tim i am trying to use separate components for a mico or small plane build (and avoid the all in one reciever ) with esc and servos all in one But every brushed esc i try runs the brushed motor constantly from start-up and my throttle does not shut it off I have the spectrum dx6 radio. just wondering if you have run across this and have a solution or would you just use a very small brushless motor set-up - if so do you have a motor suggestion. thanks. kim
@TimMcKay563 жыл бұрын
Kim: My guess is you are trying to use a brushless ESC for the older brushed electric motor. The brushed ESCs are hard to find. Maybe Google for a "brushed ESC" and see if that works. But what I would do is just go all brushless for the motor and the ESC. For the smaller Guillows models I use the Suppo A1504 brushless motor. See video below. @@TimMcKay56 thanks again TIm i will go with your suggestion of a small brushless motor - btw - i was trying 2 different bushed escs - one comment was that the lower voltage at low throttle was to high on the spectrum to set the esc. but after looking at it i couldn't figure out how / or if i couild adj my spectrum dx6

@@TimMcKay56 Hi Tim - love your videos, what would you suggest as a motor for the Guillows Sopwith Camel?

Tim: Plz see my video on Guillows Zero RC conversion. That motor should work just fine. Tim
