I can remember a time when there were no gates or security at the entrance to Downing Street, you could just walk up there. The idea seems unthinkable today!
@sanpostroll21074 жыл бұрын
It is hard to imagine that there was ever time when gates were not needed.

Yes I remember in the 60s being taken to Downing St and walking along to the door of No 10. Completely empty no police nothing. Just took a photo and walked back to Whitehall.

My companion of Primrose Hill used to come with me on walks. She was always came with sugar lumps in her pocket and we would give a couple to the horses. The system was not as sensitive to acts of kindness back then. The horses enjoyed the treat and we might even have a sugar lump ourselves.

What an interesting walk this was. I remember doing a similar walk in 2010 through the Admiralty Arch, to Trafalgar Square, and then falling asleep on the National Gallery steps because I was so tired! Your surround sound had me jumping out of my seat at the car horns at 6:23 and 16:27. And you were brave to walk right past so many protesters. I would have crossed the street. We want you to stay safe so that you can keep taking us on these walks.

Sorry about the car horns. Thank you for your concern about my safety. I was a bit nervous passing the protestors but will be carefull 👍

@@sanpostroll2107 Don't apologize about the car horns! I should have clarified that I was impressed by them because I love your surround sound! It always makes me feel like I'm right in the middle of everything!

Hello Sanpo Wow lots of protesters out that day. You missed a Harry Potter site at Old Scotland yard if you had turn and looked right you would have seen where Harry, Ron and Hermione changed into three minister workers. Now Old Scotland yard is the first police stations and it is called that because it was where people from Scotland would stay while doing business in London. Just some fun facts I have stuck in my head. My grandmother on her trip to London took a picture of the front door of number 10 Downing street, with just one Bobby standing guard unarmed. Times of changed. Take Care Chris and Sandra of Canada.

Hi Chris and Sandra. You know many bits of trivia about London! I will need to watch the Harry Potter films again and pay more attention. I can't believe 10 Downing street used to be accesible to the public. I would have loved to take a picture of the famous door.
