I'd recommend making a ice slurry for your bleed bucket and bleed and cool the fish all at once. Once they are cold, put them into your kill bag with just ice. Water in your kill bag will make the ice melt faster.
@yippikiyay1973 ай бұрын
isn't an ice slurry just ice with water?
@ChrisPfish23 ай бұрын
the water in the bag is from ice melting. We put the fish in a bucket to bleed for about 2 minutes then throw them in the ice bag. Thanks for watching
@Duckschuksandtuna3 ай бұрын
The ice slurry in the bucket will help cool them down quicker and you’ll need less ice in your kill bag. We throw a couple of blocks in for better ice retention
@kanakanorcal25653 ай бұрын
For that size kill bag, add two boxes of kosher salt. It makes the ice last longer.
@jaderpfishman76892 ай бұрын

The auto pilot make a difference in trolling for albacores and BFT. Great trip Chris.
@ChrisPfish23 ай бұрын
i think it does help a ton. I actually didnt touch the steering wheel once. I can make perfect circles with it. when we hook up i go straight and all the lines stay perfect behind boat while going 2-3mph.

hey Chris.. looks like a great day of really fun fishing.. also your new boat is awesome.. Since u got your captains license I will be reaching out for a trip some time soon.. So for the Albacore it seems like trolling speed is about half of what we do for the Blue Fin if you could confirm that and also I'm not sure which lures to use.. and I hear there is a water temperature interface that we should look for ... and then one last question .. i assume i can use my Blue Fin rig for the albacore trolling... great video and any advice is appreciated... Thanks Phil
@ChrisPfish23 ай бұрын
I was using some of my bft gear for albacore. Its just heavy to hold but of course works great to bring in the albacore. Yeah you want to look for temp breaks. 61-62 degree water is generally were you want to start. albacore trolling is probably about 60% of bft speed. Thanks for watching
@mitchhendrickson49363 ай бұрын
Congrats on the Captain's license and a successful day tuna fishing. What apps or sites do you use to check yhe water temp before heading out?
@ChrisPfish23 ай бұрын
app= satfish ($100). website= tempbreak.com (free). paying one is better but free one is good to get by
@tonynicoletti81612 ай бұрын
Jigging, chunking, and casting are waaaay more fun than trolling. That cavalla is deff a more appropriate setup. The the mak 20s and 30s are overkill as fuck.
@Duckschuksandtuna3 ай бұрын
If you idle the motor when you’re jigging you can actually get the jig to a good depth, 100-150 ft. Otherwise the boat moving will prevent you from getting down and getting a good presentation. Jigging is sooo fun, once you try it and get one you’ll be hooked.

Do you see the fish on the fish finder? -or is that type of fishing just area fishing on known spots?
@ChrisPfish23 ай бұрын
you study temp and chloro charts before going out. Go were the water changes temperature from high 50's to low 60's. then chloro charts show you were the blue water is. The fish move with the water. Thanks for watching

@ChrisPfish23 ай бұрын
$450 per person. looks like everyone else is charging $500. I didnt try to undercut them. I just announced my pricing before I saw there's. I include everything besides your lunch. Tuna trips use about $400 in gas and 12 hours on the main motor.
