I remember the long, LONG walk to town; we walked to that Queen Ka'ahumanu Center mall and then caught the public bus to ride to Lahaina, where we saw WHALES on a very spontaneous whale watching adventure. SO COOL to see! I loved watching your adventures and Dee seeing so many wonderful and colorful fish! Keep up the good work! #bottom ;)

Loving the Hawaii series. In 2012 we spent a week in Maui and took a kayak and snorkel tour. We saw about 30 turtles all by one cave area. In September we are taking our very frist cruise from Vancouver to Hilo, and Kona, Maui, and Oahu on Celebrity. Your series is getting us all excited and we are learning a lot! Btw, the music playing off the ship when you returned was, " Nothings gonna change my love for you", by Glen Medeiros, a Hawaiian singer from the 80s( could have had a crush)🤣

My friend and I were in Maui for an employee recognition trip (back when companies were allowed to do that). Two 50-ish women in a rented Jeep Wrangler. We drove that road around the north side of Maui. 😬 Mostly one lane wide, two way, drop off on the ocean side. 😬😬 A man set up his drugs stand beside the road. We met a box truck coming the other direction. 😬😬😬. It was interesting passing each other on that narrow of a road. Beautiful, though.

Good morning, We are looking into going on the cruise on Pride of America for the Hawaii cruise. How did you rent a car in Maui and have the gypsy Guide? I am watching your videos now. When did you do the cruise? I saw in your videos that some of the items were closed on the ship? We are looking later on this fall, (Aug, Sept, Oct or Nov) did you see any whales?
@parodeejay Жыл бұрын
Both are via apps, the Turo app for cars and the GyPSy Guide app for our touring. We went in June 2022 and didn’t see any whales. They’re typically in Alaska for the summer, Hawaii for the winter.
@cyndimeade3828 Жыл бұрын
Do you recommend renting a car and doing the islands by yourself vs excursions from the ship? Can you give me an idea how you rented the car on each island and did you do that before you got to the ports? Did you have the same car on Maui?

Hi! We are taking this cruise in 2024. Did I see that you got a rental car on Maui? This is what we would prefer to do. Can you tell me how far from the cruise ship the rental business was and where did you park your car overnight since you were on Maui for two days?
@parodeejay Жыл бұрын
We rented all our vehicles in Hawaii through an app called Turo, which we refer to as sort of an "AirBNB" for car rentals where you rent from private owners. You would arrange the pickup spot and overnight parking options with the host, but ours allowed us to pick the vehicle up just outside the cruise port, which was awesome!! :D

Do you have a checklist for items to take with you to Hawaii vs other ports and ships? How were the beds? What kind of cabin do you recommend? I would like the balcony, but my husband is like save some money and do interior for this ship because the cruise is more expensive than other cruises. What airline do you recommend? Do you go through NCL for your booking?
@parodeejay Жыл бұрын
No, we don’t have any particular packing lists, as that varies so much from person to person. The beds were fairly nice, and cabin location is up to your personal preference and budget. Interior is a “smarter” way to go, I’d agree, ha ha. We never book airfare through NCL as their air program is pretty awful in terms of having any choice of airlines or flight times. We always book air directly with the airline when cruising NCL!! :P

For the person that asked about Turo insurance: Hi Kevin, I used Turo last year in Kauai because back then, there were no rentals, during the rental process, there are 3 insurance you can add to your rental, the first one was Basic and it was either recommended or it was an automatic add on. You will see it when you apply. Check with your insurance company to see if they cover rentals or even Turo as most do.
