** UPDATE 9/24/2016 **
With the latest Mi Home app version 3.9.0 select MAINLAND CHINA as the country when setting up extender for the first time. Some Xiaomi products and app features are unavailable outside of China and if another country is selected in the app during initial setup, the app may not detect or display the Mi USB extender device, this preventing complete setup.
