Jessi has some fun showing off the mimicry skills of Zoe the Red Lored Amazon Parrot.
Zoe has lived with Jessi and Augusto since 2007 (before Animal Wonders was founded) and enjoys mimicking everyday noises she's heard in her surrounding environment. This includes doors, dripping faucets, microwave beeps, telephone rings, and muttered talking, among others.

I'm sure you get this a lot with your animal friends, but the sheer joy in wheeks my guinea pigs make when they hear their food shaken... they're just so happy and I love being able to give that to them! They may not wheek for the every other day cage cleanings, hair brushings, or hi's, but when that food rattles, they love it, I love them!

my friend adopted from a family friend a parrot after something happened to his original owner ( I don't remember what...). They had a home office and it would make all sorts of office sounds, like the sound of a dial up modem and a printer.... he used to also like to make the beeping noise that trucks make when they are backing up... he loved that sound. Its so amazing the kinds of sounds they are able to learn, and the ones they love to make are defiantly chosen by them.

My white fronted amazon is so much like Zoe in personality. I worked a lot from home and had teleconferences off and on all day. She and her sister (sadly we lost her in May) used to carry on the whole time and it added a lot of levity to our meetings. Sometimes they got so loud I had to put us on mute but it made everyone on the line laugh. Thankful for all you do and for your amazing channel that I only recently ran across.

My uncle has a green amazon and she does the exact same chattering thing. Except it's not solely with the phone. It is literally any time there's a conversation in the room. She joins in, and she will get louder and louder as you try and get louder to talk over her. It's ridiculous but cute.

well ... start speaking softer. This also works with humans. The softer and calmer and lower you speak, the more quiet ppl and animals become in an attempt to focus on what you are saying. Try it

I've been watching a lot of bird videos recently so I can get an idea of how to care for my new parakeet properly. Today is only his second day home he's been pretty quiet but today I sat next to him to watch more of your videos and he has been non stop chirping! He even perks up when he hears the intro music!

My cousin's husband had an African Grey parrot. The parrot used to imitate the phone ringing and her daughter's voice, saying, "Mommy" in just her (then) young daughter's tone of voice. My cousin and her husband have since divorced and the parrot went with him. The parrot still talks and often uses my cousin's voice, so the guy still hears his ex-wife talking to him.

I had some birds (chickens specifically) and the difference from mammals (like the cats I have now) is that birds really transmit me peace, like trees do. They're so natural.

Zoe is AMAZING - Amazons are my favourite parrots, ever since I parrot-sat my sister-in-law's Blue Fronted Amazon for 2 weeks. He was SO noisy but a constant source of fun.

One of my Quaker Parakeets (also named Zoe!) loves to join in conversations too haha. If someone comes to my door she chats up a storm while we are talking, and then if we stop and look at her she is like "What? We're all just talking, right? Keep going!" My birds don't mimic any sounds really, like your microwave or creaky door. My theory is that they (Quaker Parakeets) are tone deaf. They do love to mimic rhythms and gestures. If I do like a little simple beat box rhythm Zoe will start trying to match it but again as soon as I stop she stops. My birds' favorite phrases: Yummy yummy? - When I have something that looks like it needs to be a treat for them. Drink of water - When I have forgotten to get fresh water and they are thirsty. Whaaaaaaat? - A word they learned from the Minions in Despicable Me lol. Time to go night night - Which they start saying over and OVER when the sun is setting and they want the room dark so they can settle down to sleep. Gimme kiss! - This they say cutely after lights are out. They'll say it back and forth, with the other responding with kissing sounds lol. It's pretty precious. Birds are just great :)

This is a great thought for every job. I'm a full-time cashier. I get overwhelmed with the hundreds of people I ring up day in and day out. My Quaker did this. Every cupboard, door, floor board, coin drop, marijuana grinder, a fork to a plate. EVERYTHING had a narration and it's own sound he would even observe objects in which sound similar and try to guess the sounds for the rest. Like if I made any wrist turning motion he'd make a grinder sound or when we dropped anything metal he'd make it hit the ground before it actually does lol. He even learned the gulping sound I'd make when drinking and ask for drink or dripping water for a baths. I always researched, Quakers sometimes don't talk as much as birds like this, but his "vocabulary" was stunning and astonishing.

My grandparents used to live next door to a woman who owned and trained parrots for parrot shows, and she used to have an african grey who would constantly say "give us a kiss, give us a kiss" and make "kissing" noises with it's tongue.

My cockatiel also needs to talk/chatter whenever I try to talk on the phone. He'll be in his cage on the other side of the room while I'm on the phone and eventually will build up to whistling when I ignore him too much.

When I was a kid, we had a parrot. Whenever someone was one the phone, the parrot would keep repeating "well,,, uh huh,,, yeah,,, well,, uh huh... yeah...".

Here in New Zealand we have these awesome songbirds called Tui and they are great mimics. There is one in the garden at the moment who likes to taunt my dog with barking noises. It's so funny. The bird will sit on a low hanging branch just out of my dogs reach and have these bark offs with her. I also get woken up every morning by this god awful sound like a dying dog which is actually just the tui making her preferred dog sounds.

When I was a kid, we had a somewhat old parrot named Polly who had been passed around in our family over the years. She loved me, my Mom said she would start calling for me about 15 minuted before I got home from school. Anyway, when anyone talked on the phone, Polly would repeat "well... uh huh... yeah...".

My friends used to have an African Gray that mimicked the answering machine. It was like "mumble, mumble, mumble...beep". My friends didn't even have an answering machine. She had picked it up at her previous owner's house. She also picked up "bad" words and phrases really quickly.

1:50 My family had a parrot once that used to do something similar, everytime we would pick up the phone he would start saying "ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh?" sounding like a deaf person thorough the whole conversation. Oh and he also imitated the doors sound, it was creepy waking up in the morning without lights and listening to his imitation of a slow opening door. Unfortunately we had to give him away to a new owner because he was too aggressive as he was a wild one that just came by my grandfather and stayed with him. Usually he would sharpen his beak with his cage as we got close to him and if you would perch him in your shoulders he would start biting your ears or try to eat your hair, we were never able to make him perch in a hand because he would bite your fingers really hard, one day my father tried and almost lost his finger. Also, he was fond of cutting all the TV cables and Jacket's zippers so that was pretty bad. We gave him to a friend of my other grandfather who had some chickens and used to have a parrot before it passed away some months before so he really wanted a new one. Two months after the parrot had a fight with some chickens and flew away and was never seen again :( Oh and also he was very similar to this parrot in size and shape, only a bit smaller and with less colors. He was an argentinian-patagonian parrot, I don't know the specific race as it was just found by my grandfather, we didn't buy it. My grandfather also caught another parrot, a smaller one that we usually don't call parrot in spanish because of their size, that one stayed for longer with my grandparents and was way calmer and nicer than the one they gave us. She liked to hide in the tv table where my grandmother couldn't find her. One day some other parrots came to a tree my grandparents have and she just flew away with them.

My Quaker can be a huge stinker when I'm on the phone, too. I think she really doesn't like that she can kind of hear a different voice on the other end, plus the way I talk to people on the phone is kind of different from how I talk to Schatzie. She heads my headphones and earbuds, too.

there's a wild bird in my neighborhood that can sound almost exactly like the bell when your keys are in the car & the door's open. Another answers the beeps when my camera's auto focus is ready to take a pic

ShadeSlayer1911 The one that answers the camera is a sparrow with tan & brown feathers & grey on top of its head. When I hear the one that sounds like bells from a car, I don't see a large bird where the sound's coming from, usually from a tall tree in my neighbor's back yard so I'd see a parrot or raven. I think it's a starling or maybe even the sparrows. There are 2 pigeons that fly around the neighborhood that caw like ravens though
