@@BirdQueenPhoenix Yes she can but it will not be fertile. I wish I had mentioned this in the video. My mistake for not doing so. Try to prevent her from laying by taking away spots that she looks at as a nesting spot. If she does lay an egg allow her to sit on the egg if she is interested in it, this will prevent her from hopefully laying again. Also keep an eye on her to make sure she is not breathing heavy with tail bobbing, this could indicate that she is having problems laying a egg if she is about to. If she does lay a egg be sure to provide her with lots of calcium foods as well. Hope this helps .

We had a female IRN for a short time that had already been passed around several homes, and we ended up not being able to keep looking after her as she was just too aggressive. This video made me realise she may have been hormonal on top of being stressed and I feel bad that we didn't know this before. We may have been able to help her.

It’s not your fault, at least you tried. Sometimes it can be a chronic behaviour which can take awhile to change. Ringneck parrots can be a difficult parrot to own and understand, especially once they mature. Hopefully she is ok wherever she is now ❤️

Omg how Blue is now behaving makes more sense!! She was the sweetest thing, always wanting to be on me and snuggling and everything and literally, like a switch flipped, she’s now lunging at myself and my kids hands when we put it out for her to step on. She drew blood from me after she pecked then sank her beak into my finger. I was utterly shocked! I couldn’t figure out how she went from being the sweetest thing to this crazy ball of feathers and beak! This video has helped me understand what she is probably going through but more importantly, how to handle it and deal with it. Thank you both so much! 🤗❤️

It’s really difficult when they switch over night. It could very well be hormonal or what’s called the bluffing stages. I do have a video up on it but need to update it. Try not to show her fear or react to it as much as it may be difficult. Is she bonded to Shakespeare or someone in the home? Ricco went through the bluffing stages but it wasn’t to bad however his hormonal behaviour was the worst this year. He started to scream from December until April and all he wanted to do was hump everything lol. I had to change many things like less daylight, foods and mirrors. Thankfully it’s stopped and he is molting now. It can be a challenge when they change, but just hang in there, it will get better . Just stand your ground with her, once she feels dominant towards you it will be difficult to change.

If your bird is regurgitating to a phone or a mirror he may be perceiving the other bird as real and as a mate, this could lead to a unhealthy relationship long term. @Riccothegreenpiedirn Жыл бұрын
I personally wouldn’t recommend wing clipping in this situation. Have you tried everything in the video as I mentioned? It does take time and it will pass. Can you give me more information as well, for example how old your bird is, does he only become aggressive during this time? Hormonal season can be a difficult time for birds and owners as they are confused. Also think of what could be causing this behaviour worse, mirrors, toys, food, lack of sleep, pretty much everything I mentioned in the video. As difficult as it may be, try not to act negatively to your bird during this time as it will make things worse. Here is a video I did on wing clipping 👉kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2mtiJloncpnjbs

wow i wish i got to know about this sooner. my IRN laid an egg today and she seems less energetic than ever. i try feeding her water and my mom try feeding her daily food that she loves to eat which is crackers and milk. she stayed in my mom’s big plastic bowl because that’s like her favorite spot to be in and she loves to bite on these big old t shirts we would use to clean (because she would chase us around the house to bite them) but once the t shirts are clean we let her bite on them and then my mom would keep them in the big plastic bowl for her. she’s not in favor to be in a cage because she wants to be free in the house, we tried to train her since small to stay in the cage but she refuses. at night, she sleeps underneath our kitchen island on the counter stool, sometimes in the day she stands on top of the high cage to watch outside of the patio door. right in the bowl with the old shirts is where she laid her egg. she’s the only bird i have. im worried about the egg laying because this is something new to me and i want to make sure i can prevent this to happen again.
@Riccothegreenpiedirn2 жыл бұрын
It’s pretty scary when they lay an egg, especially when it’s not expected. How old is she? Also is she showing interest in the egg? If so I would let her sit on it in her favourite bowl, it may help her for now from laying anymore eggs. Does she have any vegetables or foods rich in calcium? If she does not have enough calcium she can become egg bound, which is very dangerous for her. Is her main diet crackers and milk? I’ll do my best to help you but just need more information about her. I hope she’s ok.
@tiffquilamua2 жыл бұрын
@@Riccothegreenpiedirn yeah so she’s going to be turning 4 years old in may and we haven’t feed her vegetables but i will let my parents know that’s what she’ll need. her main dish that we’ll give her is crackers and milk or whole wheat bread and milk. even fruits like kiwi, apple, strawberries, and pomegranate. she eats her pet food as well. she’s showing interest to her egg. she’s not away from the bowl.
@Riccothegreenpiedirn2 жыл бұрын
@@tiffquilamua Ok so let her sit on her egg if this is what she wants, it will hopefully prevent her from laying more eggs. She will need calcium in her diet so she doesn’t get egg bound, they can die from egg laying especially if they have weak bones from not enough nutrients in their diet. Crackers and milk is not very healthy for her so try to cut down and try introducing vegetables. She needs a variety of diet like fruits, nuts, seeds and vegetables. You can give her the occasional cooked egg with no seasoning for extra calcium or search online for foods that are rich in calcium, she will really need it during this time. Keep a close eye on her for heavy breathing and tail bobbing incase she try’s to lay again and is having difficulty. You can also get calcium supplements for her drinking water, not sure if you have access to this, if not it is very important to provide her the proper diet that she will need from now on to help her. Some natural sunlight will also help her if you can bring her in a outdoor cage as well. Hope this helps you.. All the best.

Aren’t mirrors bad for birds? They don’t understand the difference between a real bird and a reflection. I guess I’m just really confused now. I’m planning on getting a bird and I’m trying really hard to educate myself. Multiple channels say that mirrors and happy huts are bad for birds mental health. Thank you for the video, but please clarify.
@Riccothegreenpiedirn2 жыл бұрын
I actually did a video all about mirrors with birds, it’s in my playlist under educational videos. Birds can definitely become obsessed with a mirror and hormonal with happy huts., but every bird is different. I wouldn’t allow a bird to have access to a mirror all the time, but if your bird doesn’t show any behaviour issues towards the mirrors once and awhile is ok. As far as huts go I only put it outside of the cage on his play stand, if I saw Ricco becoming hormonal because if it I would definitely remove it. I switch it up with the sea grass hut so he doesn’t become to attached to it. Hope that helps.

@@Riccothegreenpiedirn thanks for the reply. I'm in the USA. The lady where I got my Indian ring neck only gave him seeds. I have been trying to slowly change him to Pellets but hey didn't like tops Pellets. Will check out your video

@@rmando852 Hmm interesting, Ricco loves tops but they all prefer different foods. I would try it again but introducing it a different way. It does take time to convert them from seeds to pellets. I had a female rescue who was on a all seed diet and I got her at the age of 16 years old, I started her off with a different brand at the time but I don’t recall the name. Sometimes it’s just a trial and error to see what they like. Good luck
