I have 2 more that I adopted in may they were loved by the people who had them and they often keep in contact with us.

The solution is for breeding and selling of parrots to be banned. Period. Only then, once the flood of new parrots being born and bought is halted, can we truly rescue parrots who are already in captivity. These poor people can only do so much. It’s up to everyone else to stop the flood.

These animals are ridiculously neurotic! I would NEVER NEVER NEVER tell someone to buy/adopt/rescue anything!!

I have a cockatoo and an African Grey. They are destructive, dirty and expensive. You could literally have five big dogs living in your house with less dirt and expense than one parrot. I have them because nobody else wanted them. So many parrots are abused. Rescues are full of unwanted parrots. If you can make the commitment, please don’t buy, adopt a rescue.

Unfortunately captive parrots would not survive if introduced to their native habitat due to predators and not knowing what food is available and where.

If you love birds and can give them an EXCELLENT, LIFE LONG home, then please adopt some. I’m sure you can find a sanctuary that also adopts out birds to appropriate homes near your area. Just whatever you do, do NOT purchase any birds and do not breed any (intentionally or unintentionally).
