saw your initial review of that thing. was impressed with its flight characteristics. looks to be very stable and responsive. I could imagine this thing out-fitted with brushless motors and a camera mounted on it. that would be a `swing 2`.

I wouldn't see much point in that, especially a camera, considering the angle this thing flies at. It is by no means an aerial video platform, and the camera angle would be very awkward. And it has no need for brushless motors... that would be overkill. At least in this size. Maybe if they made a "park flyer" size version of it, then I guess brushless motors might be in order.

Be pretty cool if you could disable the flight assist and fly it like a real plane, like looping and rolling by moving the sticks instead of hitting buttons. Hopefully they include that in their next app update

I was waiting for this I didn't see you put it out already. can you adjust the throw of the elevators to make it roll faster? will it do a 8 point roll just kidding I really do want one of these it is on my shopping list only if it had ribs built up wing with monocoat

There doesn't seem to be any settings to make it roll any faster. And, it might've been affected by the wind, since it was decently windy that day. :)

Oh cool, sounds like the price went down... I'll have to update my video description. And yes, "Swing + Pad" includes both the Swing and the FlyPad. :)

What camera comes with this drone?

It doesn't have a camera for filming... it just has a basic photo camera which is used mainly for holding a hover. See my full review for more details.

They are entirely different types of models, so there's really no way for me to say which would be better for you. I personally like the Swing way more than the Rolling Spider, which is essentially the same as the Mambo. I haven't flown the Mambo itself though.

id have to disagree, looks like ur paying for the firmware. subtract that and u have some foam and 4 coreless motors.

4thGloryMonday You forgot about the R&D that goes into creating a model like this, the price of developing and maintaining software, and the customer support from a major company like Parrot. Sure, it's probably a bit more expensive because of the "Parrot" name, but there simply isn't anything else like this on the market to compare to. I am 100% happy with this model, with the FlyPad, for $120, and I think it's well worth it. :)

Do you really think that thing is worth the money? Did you pay $120 for it? I think for that much I'd buy an XK X251 and a spare battery to go with. Well that is if I didn't already have one. I do agree that you pay more for the "Parrot" name and from what I've seen you can do better for less. But hey, what do I know? Anyhow I do like your videos and thanks for doing them!

Michael McCauley Yes, absolutely. And, I paid more than $120, since I bought it when it first came out. And, why compare it to a X251? That is not even remotely the same sort of model, so that is an irrelevant comparison. If you want an affordable and simple VTOL, this is your only choice right now, and that alone makes it worth the money. If you want to make a relevant comparison, I would compare it to an Ultra-Micro plane from a Horizon Hobby brand, and those are about the same price.

When you get your drone are you buying it and reviewing one one the same dat?

My videos take a long time to make. I receive the model, and then I test it for at least 5 or so flights/runs. Then I have to film two sections of the review... the table top and the flight/run video. So it can take usually at least a month after I get the product before my review is done. And then I upload a bunch of videos to KZbin at the same time, and schedule them to be released over the following weeks. So by the time you see my video, I likely finished filming it at least a week or more before then. But, a simply flight video like this one is pretty easy to film, edit, and publish. So this one I actually filmed this past weekend. :)

It takes forever to update if you do it through the app, but if you connect it to your computer, and download the update from their website, it's much faster. :)

This looks like it would be good practice for planes considering you can swap to quad mode in emergencies. Can someone confirm if this is like flying a normal plane?

Not really, because it uses a lot of altitude-hold sort of features that planes do not use. This is MUCH easier to fly than a regular plane. About the only similarity would be getting used to flying something that is constantly moving forward. Throttle management is a non-issue though, so you wouldn't get any sense of what that is like when flying a regular RC airplane.

Ultimately, start in a simulator. That is what I did... spent hours on a sim before I even touched my first actual RC plane. Then I started with a simple 2ch Air Hogs plane... they can take a crash, and while they are pretty hard to get an actual quality flight out of, they will get you used to the controls. Then I moved on to a simple high-wing 3ch plane... the HobbyZone Champ. That is what I did all my real learning on. Once I mastered that, I moved on to a 4ch ParkZone UM T-28 Trojan to learn 4ch flight. :)

Using a game controller isn't quite the same, since the left stick centers itself, but it's better than nothing. :)

You probably have a prop or two on in the wrong position. Make sure you have the blade pitch placed properly.
